2016 Fall Camp Thread

If Willis isn't going to be an every down player then he should definitely be in on all third down passing situations.

I'm thinking something like:

AQM -- Willis -- Thomas -- DJack

or

AQM -- Willis -- McIntosh -- Thomas

That AQM,WILLIS,THOMAS,JACKSON on passing downs could be pretty effective.

Thomas and Willis are too quick for interior guards. You remember that video Chad had from the opening when he embarrassed Damien Mama from USC (who will play on Sundays)

I'm calling Jaquan Johnson. He's going to kill it this year.

Did awesome in the spring game.

I actually think Willis was starting at DE and then on subs he'll probably drop inside to DT to get more athleticism on the edges. Who that will be, I don't know, but I expect Willis to start and play in sub packages.

Things I would like to see from Camp:

1. Offensive line continuity - I hated all the rotating players and positions. I would rather have my starting 5 working together 80-90% of the time. I think that Richt's offense with more power formations will benefit the team. I hated all the shotgun runs last year, especially with Kaaya being no threat to run. I liked watching Walton running with a lead back last year against
Duke.

I expect far less subbing of players in and out than last year. No more taking our best players out for less talented backups--just because. Aside from DL where I think Kool wants to play 8-10 to keep them fresh, I expect our starters to get a lion's share of the playing time.

That should help with continuity at all positions. QB to WRs. OL and TEs blocking. LBs and secondary players. Our units should play better together without all the inconsistent lineups and sporadic subbing of players.

In order for each position.

DT: Norton, Willis, McIntosh, Jenkins and Moten

DE: (JoJo Jackson probably RS) Quan, DJ Chad T., Trent (lb?), D. Jack

CB: Redwine, Elder, MJ, M. Young and Texas transfer

SS: Jenkins, Quan Johnson, Carter, Knowles, Finley

OG: Isadora, McDermott, Gauthier

OT: St. Louis, Darling, Odogwu and Bar Milo, (Mahoney)

RB: Chocolate, Yearby, Walton and Edwards

WR: Richards, Coley, Berrios, Bruce, Harris, Lewis (Mullins)

QB; Kaaya, Sherriffs

TE: Njoku, Herndon, Dobard and Irvin (HBack)

Golden used to do MASS substitution too. Wasn't like two guys came in for some guys that are tired.

I don't see Willis surpassing Mcintosh/ Norton. What I like about the interior of our dline is we basically have added 3 rotation players because Norton and Mcintosh were freshman and Willis didn't play.

Does anyone have the slightest idea if Patchan will be ready to go?

Lets discuss fall camp whatever your seeing, hearing, reading here.

So far looks like Mark Richt will give media 56 minutes coverage for the first day of camp. The rest of fall camp is 17 minutes.

I am reading this thread and discussion says I hear McIntosh.

In seriousity, I'm curious to see how reps between the skill players are divvied up. At RB, TE and WR you have multiple options, albeit with a clearer lead guy at WR and likely TE. But who solidifies as the clear 1-2 at each position interests me.

I think the major players on offense will be:

Kaaya
Coley
Yearby
Berrios
Walton
Njoku
Herndon
Lewis
Dobard
Edwards

Richards, Harris, Bruce, Irvin will get see an increase in reps as the season wears on but I don't see any of them making a major impact, and that has largely to do with Kaaya and his propensity to spread it around.

Which of our CBS are set?

If I'm coach Diaz I think you walk in tomorrow and let every know that you're looking for 11 starters on defense.

Nobody should feel safe or comfortable with a spot on the defense right now. Go make these boys fight and earn it.

I'm looking forward to seeing the battle between Harris and Richards for the spot opposite Coley on the outside. Small sample size but I really liked his route running in the juco tape... Really knows how to create separation from the db coming out his breaks. He's got that edge to him as well, did any of you all notice him on that Netflix series Last chance U??

Tbh, we have question marks at every position but qb, te, and kicker.

Who will separate themselves at rb..

Will Cooley stay healthy, who will step up as the number 2, slot?..

Can we protect Kaaya..

Will Chad and/or AQM and/or Jackson finally play to their potential..

What will we get from Norton/Willis..

Two Fr. at LB. I think they will ball but still, who knows. Grace is solid..

Corn is ok. The rest are unknowns..

Will Carter be more disciplined? Hopefully he worked on his stiff hips. I have always like Jenkins in coverage. He is a ball hawk. He just needs to tackle better (Cinncy game). JJ will get alot of burn but is still somewhat of an unknown with extended playing time. Finley, unknown.

I hope Chad emerges he seems so focused on his music though.

Chad might not even need football when he's done here. Can't really fault the guy for following his dream but I hope he realizes he can have success doing both just like Deion Sanders and Shaq O'Neal.
