2016 Fall Camp Thread

Anybody have a kid off the radar that you think will make some noise this year?
Mine is RJ McIntosh

This is a good one. This kid has a tremendous frame and he's very raw. He might not make a big splash in the 2 deep rotation this coming year but I would not be surprised if he did in 2017

Things I would like to see from Camp:

1. Offensive line continuity - I hated all the rotating players and positions. I would rather have my starting 5 working together 80-90% of the time. I think that Richt's offense with more power formations will benefit the team. I hated all the shotgun runs last year, especially with Kaaya being no threat to run. I liked watching Walton running with a lead back last year against
Duke.

2. More mental toughness - All the penalties and coming up short in crunch time was part of the weak culture bread by the former staff. Starting in the off-season with the Mat drills where if 1 guy messed up everyone had to start over, I believe the team will be more disciplined than last year. The amount of yards and big plays that were negated by penalties last year was staggering.

3. Who's going to stand out on the D-Line - we need these guys to be playmakers. Disruption from the line will help out our questionable secondary. We have a lot of highly rated kids out of highschool who haven't shown great technique and effort. Guys like Chad Thomas need to step up under the guidance of one of the top DL coaches in the country.

4. What Freshmen show that they are too talented to keep off the field. I'm guessing Richards, Bruce, Shaq, Pinckney and Young will get the most burn out of the incoming class. McCloud, Finley and Wright will be good additions as special teamers.

5. Who's going to be our primary return men. We need our special teams to improve. Golden's special teams were a cluster*#ck. Our top teams were great on special teams, blocks, returns and coverage.

I'm with you in McIntosh. I think he and Norton will play on Sundays.

Wasn't Mcintosh a starter coming out of spring?

Yes. Him and Norton are our top 2 DTs right now and I expect them to keep their jobs, barring injury.

Is that due to their talent level? I thought Gerald WILLIS was killing it?

I'm not mad best man wins the job. I'm guessing I'm happier to hear the way these two stepped up to compete.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Courtel Jenkins take off this season either. He showed flashes his freshman year.

I'm also very curious about the Defensive battles across the board. Seeing who is going to come to play. I want to see someone on the team step up and be a leader for each position group. Hopefully these guys get the mentality back of making practice harder than games. Being passed off if a dude beats you for a rep and changing the outcome.

With Norton trimming some baby fat and getting stronger with a full year in a college weight program, I'm excited to see him play as well.
True freshman last year playing a mans position.

If Willis isn't going to be an every down player then he should definitely be in on all third down passing situations.

I'm thinking something like:

AQM -- Willis -- Thomas -- DJack

or

AQM -- Willis -- McIntosh -- Thomas

I like McIntosh too, but he was a starter this spring so he's on the radar.

Thanks DMoney
Nortons lower body as a freshman was exceptional. He's been solid legs like tree trunks. His gains in the weight room should pay off. Surprised about RJ McIntosh a little bit. Might go watch this past spring game again today.
