Not to complain, but going into Year 4 and we're still selling defensive recruits on early playing time?

Every school is selling PT **** are you a newbie in the crootin world. I guarantee Jimbo is selling PT...

Little bit different scenario when the playing time is available because everybody went to the NFL and not because there's people still available that can be beat out.

****ing Golden. Should be selling the come, sit, wait, maybe change position or get passed over recruiting pitch that no one else uses. Behind the times. We used to be be trend setters.

Not really what I'm saying. But if the elite running back recruits are coming while fully aware that Yearby, Gus, and apparently Tucker will be ahead of them on the depth chart, the early PT is not of the utmost importance. If our biggest selling point for the defensive players is still early PT, which is what we used for Chickilo, then it stands to reason the unit is still abysmal and it takes that type of ace in the hole to get these defensive players to Miami unlike the Alabama's which can get elite defensive players who are aware they wont see major time until their second year at least.

But you can continue to think I'm rabidly trying to run Golden out of here with a torch and a pitchfork.

I was unaware our defense was poor. First I am hearing about it.

McCord, AQM, Thomas and now a dude like Ude. Come. Play. Early.

Evidently it is the first time you're hearing about it since you commented on it like it was breaking news.

McCord is a 3rd down specialist going into his third year now. If that's the goal of Ude coming in, then that's the bigger issue. No player worth their salt wants a role that's on the field for 1 out of every 4 plays. Being a freshman with their title is one thing. Being a junior like that is an issue.

Which is why he said....like AQM last year...his freshman year....come. play. early. If the kid has the goods, I want him here, every year, despite the depth chart.

And never expand your role?

Of course expand his role. McCord's inability to play on a regular basis should not be an indication of AQM, Chad or Ude future position or usage.

And why would it necessarily not be? If all these players are being recruited for the same role and being coach the same, why should a difference be expected?

Overall talent improvement, year by year should allow improved flexibility. The talent and results have been pretty bad. On the line and safety spots.

None of that changes that Miami will and should tell recruits they will play early if they are good enough.

What would be your pitch to this player since the one used be Golden is unsatisfactory?

You've missed my entire point. My complaint isn't selling early playing time. My complaint is that's literally the only thing we can pitch and I don't even put the primary blame on Golden for that. All we can say is, "Hey. Come here and just rush the passer on third down and do it as a true freshman." We can't point to player development, defensive improvement, recent NFL production, or any other football related achievement to encourage a DE recruit to come here. Early PT got us McCord. It got us Muhammad. It got us Chad. It may very well get us Ude. My issue is playing time should not be your ONLY selling strength going into Year 4.

Kid has the goods and the grades. Hope we land him.

Goods if your recruiting for Temple

c'mon mane I know you don't like Golden but Ude has the goods.

Just like the DE from NJ? Unless he is getting moved to DT he doesnt have the first step like Chad, Jackson, Quan or Mccord he is way to slow

He better have that first step, because he is being recruited as a LB.

Committed to Cal tonight. Our defensive targets are disappearing quicker and quicker. This could be Randy 2010 bad.

No way . Almost nothing can be randy 2010 bad. When he left we had 4 commits and No visits set up. That was goldens first class, our current seniors. Nowhere near that bad.

And people wonder why we're not where we want/need to be.
