There are several positions on this team that will be worlds better come 2014. Also with the amazing recruiting class that is coming in practice will ge like games again.

2014 position breakdown

QB
Miami returns 3 scholarship QB's
Miami has 2 QB's committed
With all of the playing time Ryan Williams is getting he will be ready to go and surprise everyone. Don't forget Williams was a starter as a true freshmen at Memphis before he transferred to Miami. Arm strength is not the only element to a great college QB. Remember Ken Dorsey did not have a strong arm at all and he was able to put up amazing numbers. Also Williams arm strength has improved and it will only get better with another year of UTough.

RB
Miami returns 3 scholarship RB
Miami has 2 RB's committed
With the emergence of Crawford, and Edwards showing signs that he can be that big back, another year in the system and these guys will be studs. Also the addition of Yearby & Powell (possibly Cook) will give this team the most talent at RB since 2001.

FR
Miami returns 1 scholarship FB
Miami has 0 FB's committed
Walter Tucker is very explosive with speed to burn. He is 220 now and could be 230-240 by next season. Tucker will be the most athletic FB on this team since the day of Hill & Davenport.

WR
Miami returns 6 scholarship WR's
Miami has 2 WR committed & could sign 2 more
Another year for Stacy and he could be the best WR in the ACC. Malcolm will finally be 100% and Herb will continue to make plays. This will be the absolute best WR core in the country.

TE
Miami returns 4 scholarship TE's
Miami has 1 TE committed & could sign 1 more
There is no question that this position will be better. With another year of development for Sandland & Dobard and this unit will be dangerous.

OL
Miami returns 10 scholarship O Lineman
Miami has 4 committed & could bring in 1 more
4 guys return with starting experience over the last 2 seasons. Flowers as a true sophomore is the only guy on this roster that has yet to be challenged for his starting job, and with another great offseason he could be one of the top tackles in the nation. I love Linder but he is not a mauler that you need in the run game. Isidora and Gall are both maulers and will actually give Miami a upgrade in the run game.

DE
Miami returns 5 scholarship DE's
Miami has 3 DE's committed & could bring in 2 more
Don't forget Miami is now a multiple front 3-4 team. Chickillo, Pierre, Hamilton, Kamula, & King will all be DE's in this 3-4 defense. With Pierre, Hamilton, & King moving down to DT when Miami goes to the 4-3 front. Another year of development for Kamula and Hamilton and both of those guys will provide a lot of talent and versatility. Hamilton will be a upgrade over Robinson.

NT
Miami returns 1 scholarship NT
Miami has 3 NT's committed & could bring in 1 more
Earl Moore is starting to make a push for some playing time, this shows that he is improving in practice. With another year of UTough he could be 6-1 320, he is a very strong kid and will only get better. 4star JUCO Dalvon Stuckey is already 6-4 305 he could easily be 320 by the start of the season. There is also a very good chance that 6-4 340 JUCO NT Michael Wyche could be in this class also. That will give Miami more that enough depth and will actually make this team more athletic at the position.

OLB
Miami returns 5 (if DP does not leave early) scholarship OLB's
Miami has 3 committed
Perryman if he returns will be a All American. Grace with a year of UTough could be 225-230 and will be a upgrade over Cornileus. Darrion Owens being a EE I could see him having a Figatron type of spring. Owens is already 6-4 220 running 4.56 and power cleans 345, he is highly underrated and will prove a lot of people wrong. Those guys will make up the WOLB depth. The SOLB position will be McCord, AQM, & Hoilett, these guys will also be SDE when the team runs the 4-3 formation. McCord with an additional 20-25 pounds will be unstoppable. Also McCord and AQM added size will allow them to play on 1st & 2nd down making this unit a lot more athletic than the one we currently have. This will be a huge upgrade over Green and make this defense even more dynamic.

ILB
Miami returners 4 scholarship ILB's
Miami has 2 committed
Kirby and Blue must continue to develop the mental part of their game. If these guys can get it between the ears they will be very solid next season. Both of these guys are good tacklers and very athletic. Juwon Young could be a EE at ILB, this kid is already 6-3 230 and a tackling machine. Armbrister & Fig will play the SILB position and will also kick out to SOLB when the team goes to the 4-3 formation. If these two guys continue to develop we are looking at All ACC or All American type of players. They are both big at 6-3 and could be 240-250 next season. They are both fast and very athletic.

CB
Miami returners 8 scholarship CB's
Miami has 2 committed & could bring in 1 more
Another year of development and this will be one of the top units in the nation. There is tone of experience to go along with natural ability at this position.

S
Miami returners 3 scholarship safeties
Miami has 2 committed & could bring in 1 more
Another year of development for Jenkins & Bush and these guys will be the best safety combo Miami has had since Meriweather & Phillips. These guys are both big, fast, and have great ball skills. Carter could also factor in with a better understanding of the mental side of the game. I expect to see Larry Hope make a transition to safety during the spring to add experienced depth at the position. Hope is 6-0, 185, and runs 4.4 if he can add 15 pounds and keep his speed he could be at least as good as Highsmith.

I'm still enjoying 2013. But yea we will be loaded next year if some JR's stay.

I didnt read your original post.... But going off the thread liner.... If 2014 is the best in 10 then 2013 is the best in 9 i dont see us losing AT ALL!!!!!!!! One game at a time homie.

I think this year's team is going to kick everyone's rear and the 2014 class is just a beast. Still they have to do it in S&C, practice, and film room. I like Williams but it is always shaky going into year with new QB. Of course Bernie, Steve, and Craig all kind of did okay. A whole lot of talent in the 2014 class, but Al clearly prefers to not start true freshmen, so the impact will be 2015.

This team is the best team Miami has had in 10 years...... but i agree we should be even better next year.

Will be a good team, but this Miami team is special.
You guys all think we can just reload at qb?
Maybe next year Miami fans will realize just how good Morris really is and how different our play book will be without a qb who can drill it 70 yards.
I'm not talking just throw it 60 yards downfield, but pass it beyond the defense with accuracy.
Safeties aren't used to having to worry about throws that far, especially when they are thrown with the accuracy of a short slant.

So far this year everything is coming together.
Next year we have to replace Linder, Seantrel, Wheeler, Porter, Renfrow, Gilbert, Shayon, probably Denzel, Rodgers, Highsmith, our cyborg punter and Morris.

I think 8 of those guys get drafted.
I don't count incoming freshmen as replacements. No matter how talented we've seen how that works.

This team is special.

I'm with you Rudebuddha...that's a lot to replace...especially on the OL and QB. I'll worry about next year, well, next year. Too much excitement right now to look 11 months out.

No. I was convinced by the people scared to play LSU next year that breaking in a new QB would be too tough for us.

The **** outta here.

That's a championship caliber roster.

Miami's not losing much on the OL at all next year, I actually think the OL will be even better.

yes Stephen Morris is special to me but i'm confident Ryan Williams will continue to develop under this staff and can be a "1 hit wonder."

Every other position will be loaded on offense and defense especially if Denzel Perryman comes back.

Whether it's Williams or not, at least there will be quality competition which is all that really counts. Olsen is going to get a lot better, Crow is going to get better, Kaaya is going to challenge those guys immediately.

I actually think the best unit on the team will be the secondary, provided everyone returns. It's going to be scary good back there.

I'm all about optimism...truly. But the DT spot is not gonna be better next year. In fact, unless we see earl Moore go bananas we will only have Olsen Pierre as a proven commodity. That's it. Even with JUCO transfers. And I am not one who believes JUCO transfers are immediate high impact contributors. It takes time to adjust. Heck even Farley at auburn a few years ago didn't do much his first year/junior year at auburn. It took him a good year. Unless golden Al already has "transfer wire" guys like renfrow in mind, the DT spot will be an enormous question mark next year. The impact and play of renfrow has been THE difference this year, along with the maturity and play of porter, Robinson and Pierre.

All other spots we should be fine. Our starters at LB should be fine. Depth concerns me. DB's speak for themselves.

On offense we will be a little different. I think more dink and dunk with Williams. But just as prolific - if Williams' growth is any indication. Oline has enough depth that it should be ok. WR/TE/RB we are going to be lethal. Another year of growth of Gus is, to me, going to extremely impact full.

Again, however, for as much pressure as the projected DE's can muster, you will not got anywhere without DTs/NT. I seriously hope that golden has a plan for next year at these spots or that the JUCO guys can handle the load.

Talent is littered everywhere else.

Can't wait for Morris to leave honestly. Bash away

No neg from me. Love to hear why.
He's made throws this year that no other qb in the country can make.
Murray is supposed to have a strong arm, but it's nothing compared to Morris'.
It's not just the strength, but the deep ball accuracy.
Also the velocity on those deep outs like the one to Hurns against GT. Not many qb's alive can get the ball out there that fast.
I've seen every qb we've had for over 30 years, and Morris' arm is better than any qb we've ever had.
That includes Jim Kelly and Vinny, and when you have a better arm than Vinny, that's saying a lot.

Ryan Williams has already shown that he can do more then "dink and dunk"... he has the arm to get the ball down field w/ some zip to it and his arm is going to get stronger by next season..

MLB would be the only "depth" issues at Linebacker i can see if DP returns.... maybe Armbrister moves over and that problem is resolved.

DTs wont be that big of an issue.... Earl Moore is going to be a Junior and more physically ready to handle the responsibilities of a NT, Juco DTs especially the EEs could make an immediate impact and Travonte Valentine is a stud.

The D-line wont be that big off an issue imo.....

DT is a concern of course but we still have time to add another JUCO.

Also let's not forget what Golden has shown as far as getting guys post-signing day that help immediately.

This roster for next year still has a long way to go as far as moving pieces. Its championship level. Golden will he able to go out there and definitely convince some pieces to come down to Miami for a year and compete for a title.

oh definitely.... he's already looking like a stud when he's in the game.

I was just looking at the MLB position from a depth stand point... maybe Jawand Blue steps up over the off season and finally earns an appearance on the 2 deep.

I expect Tyriq McCord to improve which means we could have Figs and McCord at SLB, w/ Kirby and Armbrister competing at MLB, and Denzel Perryman and Grace over at WLB.

If Perryman leaves then Armbrister can go over to the WLB spot in front of Jermaine Grace. Hopefully Jawand Blue will step up during the off season.
