2001 Canes vs 2008 Lions

So he had one big drive after blowing a 17-0 lead at home surrounded by the best talent in CFB history. So what? If he hadn’t blown the 17 point lead and only ended up winning by 3, it’s doubtful FSU gets the title bid.
Dorsey did not blow the lead. Miami wins without a comeback drive if Najeh doesn’t fumble with just over 2 minutes remaining.

How many NC winning QBs get drafted in the 7th round like Dorsey did? I’m sure very few. For God’s sake, even Craig Krenzel (who won his NC over Dorsey) was a 5th rounder.

He might have been better than Toretta (I’d argue they were about the same), but that would probably be about it as far as NC winning QBs over the last 30 years I wouldn’t take over Dorsey.

Citing Dorsey’s record without mentioning the talent he played alongside is ridiculous. If you mention his 39-2 (should be 40-1 record), you might as well judge Larry Coker by his 24-1 (should be 25-0) record.
Yeah...What do I know??..How bout asking a teammate @dsddcane of his, so when he absolutely refutes what you just stated...then maybe you'll change your tune...
Better yet....that ridiculous amount of talent he had around him which I wholeheartedly agree with....Then how can a Lanky Freshman QB, Absolutely Lay waste to all that Ridiculous Def talent around him, summer of 1999 at Greentree, without having some talent??....(I personally witnessed the above)....And before anyone starts any "Maannn it was Practice...or Shortened Game situation BS"....Let me squash that....Practices were 100% Brutal those yrs...

If you want to pick a bad 2000 game by Dorsey pick the LaTech game. I think he threw 3 or 4 picks, and the defense had no clue how to defense a freshman QB named Luke McCown. LaTech was a bad team. Miami won 42-31 as a 30+ point favorite, at home. This is the game that kept the Canes out of the OB against Oklahoma.

He wasn’t perfect. Bad game at BC in 2001 nearly cost Miami a NC. Didn’t play well at VT either.

No offense, but I doubt you really have some huge special access to practices like you claim. And if Dsddcane claims to have been on the 01 team, I doubt that claim too.

Burden of proof is on you to show you have special access.

If you don’t understand why the burden of proof is on you, imagine if somebody came on canesinsight claiming to be Donald Trump. It’s not like anybody on here would really have any proof that the poster isn’t Donald Trump. But, would you really believe that poster? Who would have the burden of proof-the guy saying he’s Donald Trump, or the people doubting he’s Donald Trump?

@dsddcane didnt have to be on the 00 team to have been a teammate (Which he was)...so please keep doubting till you turn blue...As far as Burden of Proof....I can easily prove I spent countless hrs at Greentree from 95-2001.....You don't want to go there because you'll not only lose, you'll look foolish in doing so....

All right. Prove you spent countless hours at Greentree in 95-01.

So far, you’ve proven that about as much as I’ve proven I had *** with Scarlett Johansson yesterday.

That debate is pointless brother. Personally I ain't gonna read this whole thread. Just the two posts I was tagged in. Anyone who don't know what Kenny brought to the table isn't worth the time regardless.

Portis tells a good story when they were all freshman. They were all together before the season started and they were asked what their goals were, etc. Kenny stands up (at a soaking wet 165 lbs) and say he's going to be a starting quarterback his freshman year and eventually win a ship (?)or something bold like that. Portis said he exclaimed "man you trippin" and the rest was history. Point being - KD had supreme confidence in himself.

We wouldn't beat the '08 Lions.

We'd very likely beat the '76 Buccaneers, the TRUE worst team of all time.

But that's no particular feat; the '08 Lions would roflstomp the '76 Bucs.

Now we know thats not true. Because I was nailing Scarlett Johansson to the wall.

As we all know; Scarlett is insanely attracted to overweight, mid 30's milk truck drivers.

Shows u just how much. We had Kenny Kelly at the time who was one of the biggest recruits period in a long time at qb. Yeah there was the talk of him quitting for the reds but it ain't had **** to do with that. That's just Kenny.

Who wins?
Our Canes were so loaded with NFL players that it could be close. But remember, EVERY player on a pro team IS a NFL player. Even our greatest teams had guys who were not NFL players. Now if you just lifted the whole 2001 team into the NFL they would be a monster with a few additions. However, Ed Reed and ST in the same NFL secondary would be.worth the price of admission.

I did a Madden franchise where I put all Miami players in the dolphins, I think it was madden 08-09 and the entire team was strong except at OL and QB, CB was also a little weak, I had to switch Rolle back to CB from safety

2001 was loaded with talent, but a good number of them were true freshman or underclassmen that year. Taylor, Wilfork, MacGhee, Gore, Vima, DJ, Dre, Winslow. If we’re going to project the 2001 team playing the Lions then project them as the players they were at that time.

Or, have some fun by projecting the best players from 1999-2003 in their NFL rookie seasons and play an NFL team. Miami would be competitive against the lower tier teams, but the weakness would still be OL. McKinnie and Carey as bookend tackles would be solid rookies, the interior not so much. Can JJ be the HC and pick his staff? Coker would be over his head.

Ha I did that before in madden. Put all Miami players on the Dolphins.

then I took it a step further and had to make a all south Florida roster on the Dolphins. That team was raw as **** at the skills, weak at QB, weak on the lines.
