why did we go for 2? really? two words...
BUBBA
BAXA
Faulty logic. Baxa already hit three PATs. If there was no faith in him on a point after, they'd have gone for two the three previous tries.
Diaz explained on Joe Rose that Baxa's issues might impact fourth down red zone calls, but not PATs.
Went for two because he's an analytics guy. When down 14 at that point of the game, you go for two with a belief that you'll make it (stating teams have a 45%-50% chance of making a two-point conversion.)
If you miss, you get another crack at going for two to tie—and with roughly 50% odds, you're likely to make at least one and wind up in a tie.
That said, if you make the first, then you're in a position to kick a PAT that puts you ahead after grueling comeback; opposed to forcing overtime.
Baxa whiff aside, people should be more ****ed about Miami not knowing how to deal with any prosperity—getting a f**king unsportsmanlike penalty after Dallas' run?
That isn't "coaching"—this kids know better.
Baxa booted a 71-yard kickoff from 15 yards back and Virginia Tech returned it to the 37-yard line—opposed to a touchback, or getting pinned deeper.
That unsportsmanlike call was as bad as the Baxa whiff. Same nonsense in Florida game where Miami intercepts it late and Al Blades goes double middle fingers at Franks and the Canes get a blocking penalty on first down; ****ing away 30 valuable yards in one tick off the clock.
