1st Scrimmage of the Spring

Just read that he scrimmage had to be run inside the 35 yard line due to construction . Does that make it easier on the D?
As far as opposing qb’s lightIng us up, a lot of hat had to due witty 3rd down blitzes as well as a lot of improvisation by the qb’s. Syracuse’s was running all over the place, rolling out slipping tackles and sh.t. It wasn’t because of lack of pressure. I don’t recall any game where some qb stood in the pocket and was slinging it in 2.5 seconds and getting 20tds per play. The only qb that looked close to good was Toledo’s when they were exposing us laying off the slot.

We were decimated on third down the entire season.

No, we weren't. We dominated after the first few games.

Hey genius it takes two seconds to look up our stats.

We were 64th in the nation on 3rd down defense, at 38.9%......however our last three games we gave up 48% per game which would have been good for 118th in the nation.

Do you realize just how horrible that is????

So you cherrypick the last 3 games

lol i love how you cherrypick the last 3 games. Any defense will have tough games. Like i said, this defense was dominant AF. Turnovers all over the place, 18th in pass defense efficiency, ypc against elite, TFLs, sacks, etc. If we had any semblance of a QB, we'd have lost ONE GAME in the entire season. That is elite no matter how you look at it.

What ****ES me off - in Rick's interview - a question here and there is asked about something on the field during the scrimmage - this person or that person.

His response?

(Paraphrasing) "I don't know - I'm busy watching the QB and calling plays . . . "

That's total BS! He needs to hire an Offensive Coordinator - and then do HIS job - observing, analyzing, and tuning the overall performance of the team.

He's got blinders on. Tunnel vision.

And it even shows in the play calling. Because his focus is too narrowed, on too few, of very little.

Yeah, if Richt actually focuses his eyes on the DBs, they immediately play better. That’s how all the coaches do it.

Some people just like to read their own **** I guess.

Kaaya won the job as a summer enrollee with inferior offensive talent around him. No reason to believe JW can't win the job as a spring arrival with better talent on O.
And this is what I believe will end up happening. Williams being an EE is what will make it possible for him to be a true freshman starter at QB.

Also this is nothing like the situation with Perry last year in terms of people predicting he will start. Nkosi has all the natural tools but as a Quarterback at this level he is very raw and it doesn't seem as though he has the football IQ of Williams. Like Macho said, Perry has never been coached.

Williams on the other hand is much more polished at this stage and he appears to be a student of the game and a film junkie. I believe that Williams will grow leaps and bounds between now and Fall camp.

Rosier may very well be the starter to open the year vs LSU but my official prediction is that it will not be long before Williams surpasses Rosier and takes the job for good.

Well, let's just consider for a moment that the best coaches I've ever seen - didn't burden themselves with play calling.

Saban may be a devil - but he's smart enough to watch as much of his team as possible. Same with Urban, and all of them.

Richt had fun calling plays for FSU. DIdn't have so much fun at Georgia as a HEAD COACH, and not calling offensive plays.

He's got a mental thing going on wanting to return to his happy childhood.

Fine. Either give up as the Head Coach - or be the Head Coach and hire an Offensive Coordinator - a good one - a real one - an aggressive one - not just a symbol of an OC.

Lexcane specifically says the 3rd down defense was elite after the first three games.

I then show how in fact it got worse at the end of the season, in a row, versus some truly mediocre passers.

Then the response is “you cant just show three games”.

This is why the program died. People with agendas and fake news who dont have the best interest of our team in mind.

The defense was far far far from elite. Pretending it was lowers our standard and that aint cool.

he's sick.

Side Note: Funny how people will throw Perry under the bus after this scrimmage bc of his stats. I guess no one listened to Richt say how Perry didnt get many opportunities due to the OL and got sacked the most? Let's all jump on Perry's stats without any insight but leave Lingard alone with zero yards. Though if you listened to the full Richt interview Lingard apparently had no room. All the other receivers other than Harley and Thomas only had one catch? They all must suck and not be able to get open right? There's more to the game than just stats. Are they important? Yes. But a lot of you need to realize this **** isnt simple as you like to make it. They might have given Williams easier situations then Perry. You never ******* know. Which is why it's difficult to establish an opinion based on a scrimmage none of us were able to watch. Let's see what happens next week.
Its these quote-on-quote insiders who do have access to practices and scrimmages. They come on the board and give us their assessment and feed us with wanted info and opinions. Sadly, we don't get a truthful observation of play and circumstances. Ex. The top qbs weren't good(#s bad), but CMR says qbs weren't given a good opportunity due to DEs just running by the Tackles. Wrs only catching 3,2,and 1 passes for some without stating if there we're any drops or simply not getting separation. Rbs not doing much, but fail to indicate whether the OLine gave a push/ open holes or just got dominated by the defense...

We've gotten updates b4 and then video surfaces and we see the picture differently from what was reported. I just think some have agendas and the board overreacts off bad info. If CIS was full of mature, knowledgeable, football fans, we wouldn't have so much "this guy sucks, put this guy ahead of these guys, playcalling sucks, this coach needs to go cause we missed on this recruit" BS.

Thanks for the updates but i trust my eyes and knowledge and will wait to see the guys in action for myself b4 establishing an opinion on whose doing what...not just the overreacted stats.

You do realize that even head coaches who have fully dedicated OC’s and DC’s and are dedicated CEO types usually exclusively focus one on side of the ball, don’t you? This is true in the NFL, college, etc. Therefore, even in scrimmages, their attention is generally focused on one side of the ball. Watch some football sometimes and read up on it so you can have lower blood pressure - it’s not good at your age.

Not once did I exclude Richt from any additional duties or assistance he wishes to provide - and that includes working the the QB's.

I simply want a Head Coach to be the Head Coach.

And let the Offensive Coordinator to be the Offensive Coordinator.

You never answered the question - how old are you?

So you cherrypick the last 3 games

Here are the respective rankings in total defense, scoring defense, 3rd down, and red zone defense. Three of these defenses made the CFP. One of them lead the country in sacks and beat the other three in turnovers gained. Care to guess which one is Miami, and which three made the CFP?

1, 1, 30, 18
6, 6, 19, 25
4, 2, 6, 31
38, 28, 75, 105
