1st Scrimmage of the Spring

Oh god not this same old story.

If Richt has a sub 50% QB playing in his third season as HC, then he has failed.

Anything else is just slurping and excuses.
Richt inherited a train wreck! One doesn't clean up that wreck in a short period of time. He's loaded up the skill positions on the O and working on the oline. The QB position is probably the most difficult to recruit. He's loading up the entire D - needs more depth on the Dline. I'm willing to be patient because of the train wreck that had to be cleaned up. We've seen a lot of progress and surely would like to see more. I'm typically not a patient guy, but in this case. what's our alternative?

Our qb situation isn’t in a dire situation as people make it out to be. Does malik rosier need to improve? You **** right and I’m sure he knows that. But let’s face it, I personally want someone else at qb but that doesn’t mean rosier can’t be serviceable. I mean He did throw for 3100 yards and had 500 yards rushing 31 tds total and also beat FSU when we haven’t beat them in 7 years on an elite throw as the game expired.... also had two top 15 wins. He certainly had some negatives games(last 3 games most notably). The 4 games before that he had some good and bad moments but his accuracy was down right terrible. If he improves his accuracy and cut down on the ints he will be okay.

Perry man I don’t know what’s up with him, it’s early but who knows lol. I like His arm a lot and athletic ability but he’s got to do better in these scrimmages for sure.

Williams Im very excited about him, he has an elite build already as a true freshman 6’3 220 and has a great arm with some mobility. He made some deshaun Watson type plays on his highlights and that’s who I initially Compared him to but I saw Someone also compare him to a Donovan McNabb type of qb too and I can See that comparison as well

Malik is too inconsistent bro, you know that. Those FSU and GT games could have just as easily gone the other way. His accuracy in all the big games minus ND was around 45%...that's embarrassing.

I just Said he was inaccurate, we all know that. Before 2017 season i find it funny that Miami hadnt won 10 games since 2004 but yet we didn’t hear this much criticism of the qbs we have had since then. If malik is bad(he’s not good enough imo) then wtf was any of the guys we had since then? Lol

There’s a difference between not good today and just not good, but you’re THAT guy.

In case you never noticed, I’ve never been a Perry slurper and I’m still not. When 75% of this board was saying Perry should be the starter LAST spring and summer, there were only a small handful of us saying fat chance. I was one of them.

So now when everyone is writing him off after one meaningless spring game, I guess I’ll be the one to say a lot can happen between now and August 31. I’d say there’s 4 guys that could possibly be the starter come LSU and he’s one of them, and he might not suck. Who knows. You sure don’t.

That’s not sticking my head in the sand, that’s just being realistic with the available information. It’s called having too small of a sample size. Unlike Rosier. We all kind of know what his ceiling is, more or less, because we have a big sample size, and the odds for significant improvements aren’t great.

Now, you go ahead and continue to be the sniveling idiot in San Francisco that writes people off with a bare thread of information. I’ll bet you had him penciled in as the starter last year.

Count me in the 25% of people that said there wasn't a chance in **** Perry would start last year. Said it many times.

People are just digging their heels in with the whole stats and percentage argument.
The stats that really matter to me is that he won 10 games and broke the TD record while doing it.
With an improved offensive line along with more weapons coming in that can help us we should be set for another run at the playoffs.

When will yall understand this one simple principle, its **** hard on a unit if theyre constantly under the heat of 3 & out. Some of it is on the unit as a whole but were not making it any easier to keep them stranded on the field for the majority of the game.
Doesn’t change the fact the middle of the field is always WIDE open.

Very telling. Could it be that Perry was having difficulty picking up our offense and Richt didn’t want to confuse him by having him mimick other offenses? If that is the case and an other true freshman could handle it, gives me a bleak feeling on Perry.
Yes. Thats definitely possible.

Isn’t the scout team qb reserved for the qb that has zero shot at playing during the year? I’m (totally a guess) thinking perry was 3rd on the depth chart and by default, has to prep with the team to practice running the offense just in case rather than run the other team’s offense.
Yes. Thats often the case as well. But richt knew unless malik got injured last year he just wasnt gonna play nkosi (or atleast in hindsight thats what it appears) so why not give him those 11 on 11 snaps. Thats what you do with most qbs ur grooming that u know are gonna get a shirt.

Most defenses allow completions over the middle of the field at a certain depth. Especially with aggressive lbers who sell the run so hard. Thats why you cheat your safeties closer to the box. Its a principle with a box safety. Ideally youd want to be able to trust your front 4 to pressure the qb adequately and drop ur backers. Or only blitz one but thats not realistic with most fronts these days simply not playing aggressive enough. I personally think it would help if we widen our splits slightly altering passing lanes but then it effects the run game. Always holes in a d. Simply the oc job to exploit them.

Couple of things:

Stop moving the goalposts. Every offseason the slurpers excuse things saying what a mess we were, and kick the can down the road. Richt is being paid 4 million dollars. He was touted as an “elite SEC coach” that Georgia “stupidly fired”. If in his third season in he is still starting Malik Rosier, THATS ON HIM. You cant blame Al Golden any more.

Secondly, the defense was on the field so much bc it couldnt stop anyone on third down. It was our worst 3rd down defense ever. We gave up record completions in a row to start games. Diaz has never had a top 10 defense.

For the guy who wants Diaz as HC, saying he is a Saban in waiting: you are why Miami died as a program. Stupidity and lack of understanding, thinking we need some “Miami guy” and jerking off to catch phrases and how dudes look as opposedto their coaching acumen. So congrats for helping kill us.

Yeah most defenses allow the middle of the field to be open. If you need a prototypical example of this please see the Wisky QB (who typically sucks btw they hated him in Madison) who turned into Joe Montana reincarnate during the 2nd quarter of The OB.

Jacory got blasted by fans and media, Teddy even said a small part of the reason he chose Louisville over Miami was the treatment of Jacory. Brad Kaaya was crucified on here too. Serviceable isn't good enough against the teams we're trying to beat. If Malik goes out against LSU and throws anywhere near 50% it's going to be a bad time. I still think this is premature talk because it's spring and defense always wins and it's only the first scrimmage. We'll see though.

The guy who wants Manolo as HC just LOL....

he's sick.

Side Note: Funny how people will throw Perry under the bus after this scrimmage bc of his stats. I guess no one listened to Richt say how Perry didnt get many opportunities due to the OL and got sacked the most? Let's all jump on Perry's stats without any insight but leave Lingard alone with zero yards. Though if you listened to the full Richt interview Lingard apparently had no room. All the other receivers other than Harley and Thomas only had one catch? They all must suck and not be able to get open right? There's more to the game than just stats. Are they important? Yes. But a lot of you need to realize this **** isnt simple as you like to make it. They might have given Williams easier situations then Perry. You never ******* know. Which is why it's difficult to establish an opinion based on a scrimmage none of us were able to watch. Let's see what happens next week.

56 posts, you need to post more. You make more sense than most who post 56 times a day and have been here since they invented the internet.

I agree it’s much too early to be drawing concrete conclusions about the QB situation. But it’s not too early to begin formulating opinions or connecting the dots.

It has to be encouraging to see Williams enjoying early success, even against the second team or in controlled situations when you consider Perry hasn’t been able to do it once against anyone in any scenario since his arrival.

Same with Rosier who after five seasons here can’t slam the door on a competition that for any above average QB would be cake at this point.

So no conclusions yet but certainly plenty of information out there to cause alarm and hopefully some optimism long term.

What ****ES me off - in Rick's interview - a question here and there is asked about something on the field during the scrimmage - this person or that person.

His response?

(Paraphrasing) "I don't know - I'm busy watching the QB and calling plays . . . "

That's total BS! He needs to hire an Offensive Coordinator - and then do HIS job - observing, analyzing, and tuning the overall performance of the team.

He's got blinders on. Tunnel vision.

And it even shows in the play calling. Because his focus is too narrowed, on too few, of very little.

Defense is usually and supposed to be ahead in spring period, nice to see the qbs had some(Williams) type of success. Not what we want out of rosier and especially Perry but it’s early.

What in creation is this nonsense. If he wasn't working with the QBs, you all would be ****ing your pants. Considering that's the boards focus, you don't want it to be his(even though he's a former QB and our OC) Now you want him focused on the holder on XP, or the 2nd team long snapper. Lord have mercy.

You do realize that even head coaches who have fully dedicated OC’s and DC’s and are dedicated CEO types usually exclusively focus one on side of the ball, don’t you? This is true in the NFL, college, etc. Therefore, even in scrimmages, their attention is generally focused on one side of the ball. Watch some football sometimes and read up on it so you can have lower blood pressure - it’s not good at your age.

Just read that he scrimmage had to be run inside the 35 yard line due to construction . Does that make it easier on the D?
As far as opposing qb’s lightIng us up, a lot of hat had to due witty 3rd down blitzes as well as a lot of improvisation by the qb’s. Syracuse’s was running all over the place, rolling out slipping tackles and sh.t. It wasn’t because of lack of pressure. I don’t recall any game where some qb stood in the pocket and was slinging it in 2.5 seconds and getting 20tds per play. The only qb that looked close to good was Toledo’s when they were exposing us laying off the slot.
