Just watched the game highlights. I know, I know.

So we trade punches early on, looking pretty good. Then we get a sack followed by the first stop. Momentum heading our way.

But Tyrique fumbles.

After A&M scores, we start moving down the field. We’re responding again. 3rd and long, and DVD hits Parrish in the hands. Nothing but green grass ahead. Minimum easy first down and we’re in the red zone, and if we get a block or Parrish makes a guy miss it might be 6. Huge play.

But he straight drops it.

Then comes Borregales with the shank.

Woof.

I just don‘t know what to do with that. Drives me nuts. Guys drop balls, it happens. Guys muff punts. Less often, but it happens. And kickers miss, sure. But we have a pretty good one.

But all that in sequence? From some of our better players? **** is crazy. When will it end?

Guess I’m just venting after watching the highlights. Such a strange game last night.

I’m hurt dog!

I dont think we have our best players in places to succeed. If me as a fan can watch and see Tyrique jump in air to get a punt the week before and leave him in there in this big game then hey what can you say. If you draw up a play for back out of backfield, I wanna run it with Rooster, if I want to run a qb play and I need to make sure the TE seals the block, Im gonna make sure its not Mallory.. Idk, sometimes its like we like to make things harder than they need to be..

It got soo bad after they left Ty back there to receive punts, I was happy when he wasnt even tryna catch them..

The entire game was lost in that sequence, and it was on the players. You cannot do this and expect to win.

This is also why I'm now in the Recruiting Is Everything club: you just have to keep signing better and better players, and classes, until the ****ups are reduced to a minimum (and that they don't matter as much, due to overwhelming talent). Coaching did not commit these devastating failures.

This was in 1st quarter, right? Why should we lose after this. It is still 3 -3. Of course we can still win and should win.

We need a true dog that’s gonna catch it and run for yards
So many times they downed it way deep cuz he was too shook to even try to catch the ball
Trying too hard to be a “dog” is what led him to go after the punt that bounced and resulted in the fumble.

Get somebody back there who’s gonna take care of the ball. Worry about being a “dog” later.

I feel your pain.
Unfortunately, this is has been common practice in any Canes prime time games. They just can’t get out of their own way when playing on the big stage.

Yep, said the same to a friend when we were watching the game. These mistakes are going to be the difference in the game and unfortunately I was right.

This is what I've been saying for years and the reason my wife refuses to watch games with me anymore because she can't handle how insane it gets me.

I don't want our A+ game. Sure, I'd love it. It'd be viagra. But I don't expect this program to play it's absolute best on the biggest stages.

However, is it too much to ask to get our B- game? Or C+? Why can't anyone get these kids to just play basic, fundamental football? OP has this perfectly nailed. Does the 1 play win us the game? I don't know. And overall, Parrish was excellent. But when you have relatively evenly matched football teams, and you're trying to win road games as an underdog, you have to capitalize when plays are there to be made. It's enough of an uphill battle overall, when the plays are clearly there, and they're easy plays to make, you have to make them. That very easily could've been a touchdown. And we're not saying, well, if the kid did a a backflip and made a 1-handed catch and made 7 guys miss, then.......no. Just catch a ball from 10 yards away that hits you right in the hands with no one near you. Just field a punt. Just the little things, that's honestly all I ask. And yet every single time we get into a situation like this, the kids **** down their legs. Doesn't matter the name on the back of the jersey or the coaches wearing the headsets.

And with all that we were still in the game until the last drive.

To your point, Arroyo has to get at least some of those targets Mallory is getting. He’s simply more dangerous. And maybe I’m wrong, but I can’t imagine he’s any worse blocking.
Arroyo is a solid blocker. Maybe even good. He was better as freshman at blocking than Mallory is right now.

Also put George at punt return. He’s also better than X even tho I’ll get downvoted. He’s not a burner but he’s shifty and makes guys miss and always catches it clean.

Tyrique isn’t that make you miss guy and drops them. Bad combo. Plus he’s probably tired from playing a defensive series

When it hits the ground, get the fvck away.

The boisterous crowd and big game pressure got to Bojangles. The shank and short kickoffs proved that.
He’s young but he’s proven that in big moments he’s a question mark unlike his brother… who was much older so plenty of time for Andy but that’s where he is now.

I couldn’t believe after 10+ straight touchbacks he couldn’t put it in endzone until 2nd half Saturday night

Post of the season for me because this is what I said verbatim to the group I was with watching game.

I just want to look competent again. If the other team beats us and we don’t beat ourselves I’m perfectly fine with that. Saturday night was a display of incompetence in 2 phases of the game

Watched that series again last night. Just a comedy of errors. Still waiting for the TS that everyone was raving about. That Parrish drop was brutal but that man was amazing the rest of the game. Best RB we’ve had in a while. Wish Rooster could break tackles like him. And I don’t know what to say about Bor other than the game looked to big for him.
It’s one sequence but If Ty doesn’t fumble or Parrish catches that ball, I think we win despite our struggles in the RZ the rest of the game. Fvck me
