That's the year we completely collapsed against Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl. Did any backstory ever come out about that?

The team just gave up after the West Virginia loss. They had no desire to play in a meaningless bowl game.

The practices leading up to the bowl game (just like the season before) were poor, and Erickson just didn't have the team mentally ready to play in that game. It didn't help that Bryce Erickson got suspended for the game after getting involved in an altercation the night before after curfew. Dennis didn't sleep at all that night and you can tell at kickoff that Dennis was a mess and just wanted the game to be over with.

And it was bad matchup for Miami. That Tedy Bruschi led Arizona team had a dominant D. Miami's OL was a joke in '93. Even if the team was actually motivated, Miami needed to have brought its A game in order to beat a top 10 Arizona squad that was basically playing a home game.

That was the game where some dopey reporter asked Kevin Patrick if it was going to be major disadvantage for UM to play at such high altitude. KP responded, "Thin air, no air, lots of air. Doesn't matter." Then he wound up in the middle of a fight during the game with no helmet on. Everyone else had helmets on. Dude was a prince.

Anytime, anywhere? Some of you are completely delusional about our scheduling then and now.

Our 2016 Schedule is harder than 1993.

Your commentary needs to be quantified:

-11 games schedule that decade
-Big East conference games (7)
-4 OOC Games (FSU, CU, Memphis, GSouthern)
*Colorado was a power back then

Much better than it looks at first glance.

The nostalgic side of me loves these posts and remembering how good those teams were.

The cynical side thinks it's a little sad. Were any players on our team was even born yet? It was 23 years ago. I doubt the 1993 Canes were watching tape of the 1970 team to get pumped up for the season.

We couldn't control our conference schedule. Georgia Southern was the best I-AA team in the nation back then. FSU won the national title that year. Colorado was at their best (1989-1994) and Memphis was average. Not really sure your point.

Wow, random thought generator of a game:

- Couldn't stand the Buff's HC McCartney. He founded a group called the "Promise Keepers" and a whole bunch of guys in my unit back then were pushing him as a shining example of the way a husband and father should be (McCartney started it after he had an affair; to "atone for his sin")...Then "Super Dad" McCartney's daughter gets impreganted by his starting QB (who then dies). No big deal to most but it showed McCartney's absolute hypocrisy...He only won an NC because the refs gave him an extra down against Mizzou.

- Wonder why Gameday's Chris Fowler had an easily observed disdain for the 'Canes? This game is why (Fowler is a Colorado alum).

- Speaking of Fowler, boy has he had not a lot to cheer about for a long while...Colorado IS off the college football map.

You're right on McCartney. Hypocritical joke. One reason Colorado became a power because they did what Nebraska did; they recruited inner city kids with talent and chips in their shoulders. Most were good kids, some were bad. Same at Miami.

And I thought McCartney's daughter was impregnated by two different players.

The brawl was not one of Miami's better moments - depending on your perspective.

The same Kevin Patrick many wanted as DL coach.
