Ah.... The Cotton Bowl.... a somewhat chilly day.

If memory serves our Canes converted a 1st and 45 after several unsportsmanlike conduct infractions.

I could be wrong, much drinking was had by all.
 
Opening kickoff, Bailey channeled his inner Carter and knocked boy out! If played today he wouldn’t have had to wait for replay and walked straight to the locker room. Lol.

True story. A relative was standing next to Coach E and at the end of the first quarter the referee came over to Dennis and told him “coach, you need to get more control of your
Team.” Coach E told him “I’m in total control of my team. You get paid to referee and control the game, I get paid to win games.” There were many colorful words omitted from my post! Funniest game I’ve ever seen but unfortunately it started the crack down on UM football by the rules committee and Thad.

Not quite. But your partially correct, Coach E said something to the effect “We are on a mission and nobody is going to stop us including you. Throw all the flags you choose, won’t make a difference “. There were some colorful words left out!

One of the greatest football games I ever saw. Its on my Mt. Rushmore along with:
1989 beat down of #1 ND (revenge for ‘88)
2000 defeat of FSU on wide right 3 (we knew we were back that day)
2001 NC beat down of Nebraska
all other NC games
 
That's probably my favorite single game. I rewatched it recently and was surprised by how anemic our rushing game was to start.
