We have a true freshman 2 star starting at left tackle. Who the fck has that ?

The 2010 Oregon Ducks had three 2 stars starting the OL in the Nat championship game. We will face teams that are much much better on the OL than us with far less talent (on paper at least). Remember when Miami had a 4 game skid (I think his 2nd) under Richt with Kaaya at QB and Richt finally changed the offense to quick throws and 3 step drops, and suddenly Miami could move the ball the rest of the season? Same OL, dramatically better performance. How did that happen?

Did they have a true freshman 2 star left tackle? Arguably the most important position besides the QB.

Did you actually watch that season? Oregon only made the NC because they went undefeated in a TRASH pac-12 conf that year. That Auburn team they lost to had a terrible defense that year. They allowed Arkansas to score 43 points on them. Only 3 P5 teams scored less points on Auburn than Oregon did that year.

Blades Jr, after getting embarrassed all night, flipped the bird at Franks for a costly penalty. And he only got the start by default. It pains me when legacies don't live up to their name. Blades Jr. still has plenty of time but I can't remember one legacy panning out.

I’m just not sure what anyone expected. It’s not excuses it’s fact.

Go back and look at the history, of first time starters, first time coaches and first time OC, ....then add in new Tackles and you have the recipe for what you saw last night. What makes it sting as a canes fan is that we’ve seen this same
Act over and over as we’ve burned through coach after coach.

Every example you gave of a freshman is a kid on a stacked team littered with 4 and 5 star talent. By your own admission you said our guys are not elite so what is the comparison.

And also revisionist history at his best. Trevor Lawerence WAS TRASH in his 1st start @Home vs Cuse last year. Dude was shell shocked and eventually got knocked out of the game. At the time ppl were saying he low key quit. Dabo was shook and had to defend the kid after the game. The kid rebounded and the rest is history.

I agree with you Shaq...dude has missed more sacks that anyone I can remember.

And toughness I don’t know what you define as tough. I saw a lot toughness in many areas of this team. Our QB took double digit sacks never held his head down and kept standing the pocket. He was almost too poised maybe if he was a little rattled and he would have threw to his check down.

We held a very physical running team in check with only our front I consider that toughness.

We battled through adversity and gave ourself a chance to win, I would consider that showing mental toughness.

Point is this. We will never have an elite team without earning it on the field. We aren’t going to risk and aren’t capable of out bidding teams for players. So we Are going to have growing pains.

I’m not high I’m not low. Unfortunately it takes time. UNC will be more telling than this game.

Some sound points @Rellyrell and I agree. Miami didn’t look over matched in any area other than on the oline blocking their defense. We absolutely gave that game away. A lot of sh*t went against us

I don’t think any team can win against a top 10 team giving up:
11 sacks

Dropping a td to put your team up 10 with 9 minutes left in the game

Fumbling a punt return leading to a td

Allowing uf to go 4-4 on 4th down conversions

Horrible officiating calls going against Miami

Freshman OTs

Williams holding on the ball a little too much

Not to mention the litany of pre snap penalties and all the other ones in the game.

What I took Most from the game is this team fought hard, but we absolutely should have won that game against a top 10 team despite all our litany of errors.

The refs certainly didn't help. Pi on blades but no call on jordan. The play clock ran out on one of the 4th downs and they didn't call. The false start on another 4th that kept their drives going. The missed fg and the muff hurt as well. Couldn't believe the missed tackles we had. But the biggest fail was the oline. Maybe we need to bring back kehoe back to help out. Never seen a Cane team give up 10 sacks. What the ****

We have 0 elite players on the team and the closest to it by a mile is Brevin.
JT and Mallory were jags on the big stage last night I hope that changes going forward.
Plus we dominate the gaytor drive 1 then abandon that style for PA fakes with an OL who couldn’t block at all.
I would be livid if I were pope and Hightower.
Wow does our DL get overrated. They got manhandled most of the day

How'd you like Patchan last night?

Great points! The ref's calls all night seemed to be make-ups for other calls they missed!! The Blades call was horrible, he was 10 yards away and celebrating after a huge turnover
That’s called taunting which is an easy flag to throw

I had to wait late to post this; simply b/c of pure anger flowing threw my blood.

This was the classic “giving the game away” moment. Ya’ll know I keeps it 💯 w no homerism in game, so here’s my take from today’s game.

1. Can we please stop using the term “elite” w any of our players? Elite don’t miss tackle after tackle. Elite don’t drop TDs or muff punts in clutch moments. Elite don’t give up 10 sacks and an ungodly amount of QB pressure. Elite doesn’t allow a make shift OL to give a rattled-by-nature QB time to just throw the ball at will. Our young men are good, but not elite.

2. I’m not sure why Enos didn’t pull Jarren to the side and just tell him it’s OK to throw the ball out of bounds. Him holding on to the ball for literally 5-6 secs was inexcusable.

3. Will Mallory....he’s beginning to look like a Green Tree All American.

4. Shaq and Pinckney, extremely disappointed in them. I’m still waiting for Shaq to show me something in big games.

5. The DBs by far looked like the best coached unit, which is ironic b/c it’s so thin.

6. Bravo Mr Dallas; hats off to you! Helluva game by that boy!

7. ST is still broken in all facets. Ridiculous

8. UF tried to give us the game & we refused to take it.

9. Where tf is Pope???!!

10. The refs absolutely sucked. While they didn’t lose us the game, they certainly killed momentum and gave UF momentum several times by either calling bad PIs, missing blatant holds, calling holds on us that weren’t there (see Harris’ run) or missing a false start that was extremely egregious. Yet, they didn’t miss a beat on any resemblance of an infraction on us.

11. I’m tired of the talking. I didn’t see toughness; I saw confusion, and an ill-prepared team, and that was on both sides. Had we played against an actual good team w an offense, we would’ve got lit up, legit.

12. Get rid of the Turnover Knuckles. It’s weak & corny af! I don’t care if we would’ve won the game. The gimmicks r too much! It showed on & off the field. We’re beginning to look like clowns. The chain, in general, is losing its mystique and that happens when you’re continuing to lose & momentum is not shifting, despite the TOs.

Listen, I don’t want to hear this was Jarren’s 1st game, excuse. We have ample sample sizes now w Tua, Winston, Hurts, Manziel, & of course, Lawrence. These kids r coming out balling, despite youth & inexperience. The fact is, Jarren needs help; and unfortunately no matter how talented he may be, this OL is an unmitigated disaster. E

Yesterday was a mess on both sides of the coin. The trenches can no longer be filled w 3 star guys; in order to be back, the trench must be flushed w elite caliber players, not just Green Tree All Americans.
Point number 3 stood out to me. The rest of your points drove me nuts as well. Rough tilt that they probably should have won. They would not have deserved it but should have won.

Even though he was running for his life most of the night, I was impressed with how Jarren hung in there and threw some dimes. Mallory dropped 2, the one he threw to Brevin near the end zone was low and away from the defender and should have been caught, and the one to JT4 in the end zone was low and away and should have been caught (would have been a great catch but no chance of a pick). He didn't throw a pick and no fumbles. Took care of the ball.
All the QB's mentioned worked behind OL's that were more than serviceable. 10 sacks is totally inexcusable.
