Great stuff. Fantastic news about Butch. Not to excited about him bringing Mario, but we can worry about that later. Not surprised Butch not planning on long stay- 4 years is fine. Stable will be restocked and another NC trophy in case. By then Mario will have taken a HC job someplace else and we will not have to worry about him.

I email Blake every day and Frenk every other day about Butch. Everyone should. Be reasonably pleasant, but leave no doubt that Butch is the ONLY acceptable choice. You cannot give them slack. They do read the mail.

Geo, thanks great stuff. I think Frenk is more interested in this than is being let on. In 50 years, I have never seen a Miami President come out and defend our team when it was attacked. Usually they have joined and even lead the attack. I think he liked Duke's smug little noses getting bent out of shape. You hearing anything that might confirm that?

No idea who he would bring as DC but if it were up to me.


Give me Gran as OC and Leavitt as DC and I promise we would be competing at the highest level again very soon.

Even just Gran would have me excited. Great coach.
 
I like the news and I like the idea of Butch returning to Miami. My only concern is with the process and that if all these stories start coming out that Butch is a shoo in, why would anyone else like Patterson, Dantonio, etc., put their names in the hat if it has already been decided.
 
If it means Butch, I will welcome Mario back.

Also, Geo I did not forget about tearing those nips off. A WhatTheHell always pays his debts.

That would be ridiculous. HCIW means nothing. Will help in recruiting, especially with the local guys who have a hard on for Mario. Will mitigate the competitors' recruiting angle that Butch will only be around for a few years and you have no clue who may be your coach. In the grand scheme, it's irrelevant as long as Butch does what I expect him to do and puts together a real staff and professional organization.
 
Personally, I have a lot of faith in Butch. If he believes Cristobal is good enough to have as the HC in waiting, I'll accept it. (We'll see if Cristobal would accept it, though....)

Butch is quite good at evaluating coaches and future productivity as well...

The post isn't too surprising. Money talks and DiMare is backing Butch...

As for worrying about no DTs on board, well, if Butch is hired that'll be the least of our worries - Butch will load up the DL with difference makers. Plus we have some decent ones already on the roster. And he'll know what to do with them, unlike the current rubbish DC we have.

At any rate, I fully believe if Butch is hired that he'll fill in the roster gaps quickly and have us in the national picture soon...

I want gran for oc too man. Butch needs to switch up his style on that side of the ball.

If this is true then it's great news. The most appealing thing about Butch is the fact that I have no doubt he will bring in an elite staff. If he comes to Miami...it will be a cheaper hire than most others...which leaves the bank open to bring in some legit coordinators and position coaches. That is an area where Miami has failed in years passed...we do not offer enough money to lure big time assistants.
