The most sensible thing to be is Ed taking over Safeties. Banda is too young to be pinned to that position coach. He can very easily and seamlessly move to be full time ST coach. It would also help Hartley out since he now has his hand full developing 4 guys, because lets face it, even Irving Jr in his JR year is far from polished.

I know most want an OC type of guy but its just not happening. Richt wants to do that. I also don't think that he feels like he has been given a fair shot with all the limitations so he is gonna keep at it. That's why he came here.

Banda is 36. How on earth is that "too young" to be a safeties coach?

He's also done a really good job both coaching and recruiting

That couldn't be farther from what I said. I said he's too young to be PINNED to one position coach. It has nothing to do with age. He came from Miss. ST as a GA, if I recall. This was his first full time duty here and he's done marvelous. But he's too young in the sense that he is young enough to be moved around. He hasn't been doing this for years and years to the point where he is pinned to safeties coach. So to make space for an Ed Reed at Safeties, it makes sense to me to move the guy that's still young enough to adapt to a change.

You don't know what the draw of having a future HOF former player come back to coach is? Also not just future HOF but one of the best to ever play the safety position at the highest level, and a respected leader. Someone who was still playing until a few years back that kids have grown up idolizing? I think if he's good enough to be an assistant coach in the NFL he's good enough to coach college.

Dorsey is a NFL QB Coach. He would need to be OC to come down to college. Richt ain't giving that up. Walsh on the other hand, could take a RC/OA title. Know one on this staff has the RC title. So, therefore he won't be stepping on anyone's toe's or taking anyone's job away. He ran the IMG Academy for two years and was responsible for recruiting all over the country. He was a high school Head Coach in Palm Beach County for six years. And took his team to the state playoffs five of those six. Now he's coaching in the CFL on Marc Trestman's staff in Toronto and they just won the Grey Cup in their first year.

Feel like these guys will be evaluated next year if the 2018 Offense is stagnant again

This. Our offensive recruiting is so much better than the defensive. Need a defensive coach that’s a strong recruiter. Other than Banda, none of our defensive coaches appear to be anything other than average recruiters.

The problem with that, is none of the kids he'd be recruiting were alive when he was at Miami.

We need an experienced guy for the 10th spot. Ideally, IMO, a DL/LB recruiting guy to help Kul and Diaz with the DL and LBs.

I understand why he was put there. But we obviously agree he deserves to stay on staff. If the decision is to bring in Ed, which I like, would you not rather Ed at safeties and Banda at ST, or even LB, basically still recruiting but helping out where help is needed? That's my take on it. I believe it was mentioned a guy like Larry Scott has coached NUMEROUS positions on O. Happens all the times. Guys move around. I do feel Ed has a lot more charisma than a Rumph and was so great kids will want to paly for him. Playing for Ed will be a BUSINESS DECISION

Great coach but doesn't look like he can recruit. Tracy rocker is available, bring kevin Patrick back home. He turned down coaching at FSU

I’m okay with him as a player personnel coach but that would be a disappointing 10th coaching assistant hire when you can ed reed if you wanted too

I think bringing in former player for 1 year stints would be a great idea. They would serve as player development guys, providing all the tricks of the trades to the players. Also serve as motivators. So say Ed Reed 2018, Ray Lewis 2019, etc... And if things go great, and the player wants to stay, and both parties feel it's a good fit, then you go from there. I think it's a great idea especially for guys that want to get into coaching capacities but don't want to have to invest their entire life to it every day, year in year out. They maybe do small bits of recruiting trips. Maybe even bring in former head coaches like Briles or Rich rod, fully knowing it's only for a year and only for minimum work and knowledge.
