And we "hired" the last "Miami guy" away from Temple after he had just left...Miami. This is a clown operation. No serious football program makes these ridiculous decisions. And of course, their next decision when Manny is inevitably fired is to run to the next easy target.

Mario Cristobal is not a great coach. He's a great recruiter that can clean up the Pac12 where there is no real competition at the moment. No prospect is crazy about committing to USC or Washington unless they're already a fan.

The only way he works here is as a CEO-type, like Dabo, but there is no sign that UM would ever put in the commitment Clemson put in. Clemson built a monster staff around him of elite recruiters and coordinators and they pay them **** well so they don't leave. Look at Brent Venables, he could have just about whatever job he wanted but he choo$e$ to stay there as a DC.

I wouldn't offer Mario 'Dabo money'. He hasn't earned it.

Carol Soffer has no where near multi-billions and the gift to the IPF was from her son Jeff who has no ties to UM. Keep dreaming.

Thought it was like $6M then but who knows.

Anywho, you gotta pay $9M for a buy-out, pay $5-6M+ per year to get Mario (you know Oregon will pony up to keep him) and prob another $2-3M+ to meet Mario's demand for staff and analysts.

I know the real estate market is booming so hey maybe to the soffers this isnt a big deal but i have my doubts.
 
Oregon gave Mario a new 6 year/$27 million deal last December which increases his annual base salary to $4.55 million.

Richt before he received a contract extension in 2018 was making about $4 million annually.

The point is the finances to get Mario are not at an unrealistic level.

It all comes down to if UM’s leadership has the will to finally end the mediocrity and bring Mario home.

Even after the OSU win, people bashed him by holding a close win against Fresno St against him. His losses last year in a covid year. How he “backed into the conference CG”. I went back and forth with that doofus clown @Go Canes!!

Not sure exactly what Corben is saying here. I agree that fans need to recalibrate their expectations. The days of Miami dominating CFB are long gone. However, if the administration ever decided to truly make the commitment needed, I believe that we could still compete with the big dogs and make the occasional run at a Natty.

They just re-worked his contract in the offseason. Oregon could have insisted on a much, much higher buyout than 9 million to lock in Cristobal through 2025 (Dabos buyout is 40 mil). The fact that the buyout is reasonable suggests to me that Mario didn't want to agree to a huge number in order to keep his options somewhat open. If a NFL team comes calling, a 9 million buyout is peanuts. Of course it doesn't mean he kept the door open for Miami, but I think he wanted to leave enough wiggle room that he's not stuck at Oregon and unable to leave for a more desirable job if it comes along.
 
I've been to a Oregon game a couple of years back if Mario wants job security he should stay in Oregon. He is at almost GOD level and can stay as long as he wants and recruits at a high level. HE WOULD BE CRAZY TO HOME BACK TO A SCHOOL THAT DOESNT HAVE A QUARTER OF SUPPORT THAT OREGON DOES. I'm sorry college football is a business and the school doesn't care
