$10M per year to Mario - make the offer now

Would Eric Bieniemy consider a college job, and if so would he consider Miami?
Me and a couple others were saying Bieniemy before Manny was hired. But where the program is right now, I don’t think you can even consider anyone who hasn’t run a program before.

Billy Corben tweeting something every Cane fan already knows. Yawn.

They all know this?

You can't tell by reading this thread alone, not even considering the rest of the threads.

Buy this guy, buy that guy, and so on. Love it how people here hand out other people's money. 10 million for a coach at Miami if all places. It's never going to happen. Our ship sailed when we hired Shannon and he failed. That was the nail in our coffin. The NIL deal is the gravesite being covered by a lava flow.

Hiring another coach because he's a "Miami guy" would be par for the course with this administration. UM has an athletic director and board that make decisions based on emotions and with the intent to cut corners.

Yes. Many won't admit the truth.

Mario? Yes, he's a 'Miami Guy' but not without accomplishment. Two PAC12 championships. Rose Bowl win.

Not only that, but over the last 2 years of the pandemic, the rich have gotten richer. The Trustees are swimming in cash.

Here's what you do. There are nearly 100 Trustees. Tell every single one of them to write a check for a million dollars. That will cover all their past fvck-ups and guarantee their continued tenure as a Trustee.

Now you have $100M to hire Mario and a staff (and an AD), and the Trustees have clean consciences after years of misguided loyalty to Coker and his horrible (late-stage) hirees, Shannon and his paranoia, Golden and his stubbornness, Richt and his declining health, Manny's "bet on himself", and Beta Blake's "bet on Manny". Not to mention Hocvnt and the Shermanator.

Clear the decks. All old Corleone family business will be settled. Fire Beta Blake and Manny and give Mario a clear runway to come in for his landing.
It's nothing personal; it's strictly business.

He's been linked to the USC job so I think he would be interested in college.
He's from SoCal, and the media reports the USC job is one college job he's told friends he would consider. FWIW.

If I'm an SC fan (not) I'd be concerned he'd jump to an NFL HC job at the first opportunity. He wouldn't have to win a 'ship, just have enough success to show he can be a HC (like Bill O'Brien at Penn State, two seasons).

Let's look at the failed "Miami guy" hires. Coker - who the players wanted, unqualified. Shannon, DC with no HC experience, failed. Golden wasn't a Miami guy. Sad as it sounds, he was the best recruiter/evaluator we've had since Butch. Richt was a horrendous talent evaluator. Nice guy but when you can't succeed at a school that gives you infinite money and resources, that should have taken him out of contention. Then of course Diaz, who should have stuck with Temple to learn how to be a coach instead of baring his *** at Miami. The actually good "Miami guys" like Schiano and Cristobal didn't get hired.

Who still bashes him? Seems you are making strawman arguments. I have seen nothing but praise for his accomplishments lately.
To be fair, there have been plenty of posts stating we should just wait, he'll blow two PAC12 games this season. Even after the Ohio State win. His supporters admit he's not a great game day Xs & 0s coach. His gig would be to assemble a great staff, recruit great classes, and have tough, physical teams.

After the last 15,18 years of mediocre teams and staffs, I'd like some of that.

I know you're preference is a play calling guru, and that's okay too.

I'd be down with Mario but you can't overpay for him, then if he doesn't work out everything is even more ****ed than it is now.
What is "overpaying" for him? He can recruit. Hires great assistants. He played on a natty team for UM. He learned under Saban. HIs teams play fast, disciplined, and hard. What he asks for, you give it to him.

I would agree with this and completely give up on the canes if just one of our past head coaching failures was hired somewhere else and succeeded but all these rejects have done nothing after getting fired here.We need to hire a legit coach, then we'll see if miami can't ever get back.

You're not understanding what he's trying to say. There was a brief 20 yr stretch because of increased parity in CFB, where avg to solid HCs were hired at this program, who then would go on to achieve incredible success in their careers. Right now, MIA has unfortunately become a program where coaching careers go to die. And that's the issue. This has become a situation where it's EXTREMELY difficult to win here. For a variety of reasons.
