It sucked for sure, but there’s only one team/fanbase that can talk crap to us in the entire county.
That’s a pretty good feeling in my book.
The future is
pulp fiction GIF

Feel as if this time were really back.
Definitely will be ranked somewhere in the top 7-8 range preseason.

Two things can be true:

1. We played w house $ all CFP, exceeding expectations, therefore u have to classify this as our best season since 2003.

2. We **** the bed in the Nat’l Championship game similar to 1986. Ironically, just like Testaverde threw a game synching int to end our comeback while driving, so did Beck. Just like penalties, & inopportune turnovers did us in 1986, it did us in this title game.

This team felt like 1983, an improbable, unforeseen Nat’l Title winner, but fell flat like 1986 (although in ‘86, we were the prohibitive favorite vs. underdog).

All-in-all this is best season I’ve witnessed since being out of college. When I wear my Canes’ gear, it’s gone from “Wait, ur a Canes fan???” to “Wait, u’re a Canes fan?!!!!!” Just have to keep up the momentum & not be a one hit wonder b/c in today’s landscape of CFB, we’ve seen teams go from Dark horse, Cinderella stories one yr to My Little Ponies, Children stories the next.
Man I feel like Indiana is a 1 hit wonder. They had all 23/24 year olds on their roster who had been in the system since their last school. They lose so much! Are they going to reload with more 23/24 year olds? Will they be as clean as they were? It’s impossible for them to replicate what they did this season

I don’t see how they can rank us so low. We’ve won 10 games last 2 years. We reload at EVERY spot and return so much! Our offense is going to score 40 per game& not because we put up 70 on a lame like Syracuse. Defense returns one of the Nation’s top 2 leading int leaders who was part time starter who will be the man and another two safeties who hit everything! We return our top 5 CBs with 4 of them being good enough to start at ANY school! We return our top two DTs and some with starting experience elsewhere came in and our leading tackler is an all conference LB who returns for his 15th year! Plus we brought in an all everything DE that had 10 sacks in less games than our guy he is replacing played in. Got 5 star guys all over d-line ready to step up! Top 3 team at worst!

Were Top 5

Dont matter though top 10 is playoffs

For me, everything after beating Oh Taint was a bonus. As much as it sucked to lose a game we had in our hands beating ND, our state, Taint, A&M and Ole **** all in the same season is quite a feat to be proud of.

There is a little sting still there from the loss but when you zero in on this season, I see nothing but success. Going a step further, these past 2 seasons have been so much fun. Miami being able score at will with Cam in '24. Bain and Mesidor making OL pee on themselves before the game in '25. Mark Fletcher running over, around, and by defenders at 230lbs. This has been great. Someone said earlier that '25 felt like '83 and ended like '86. That's good! It means Miami is back to where is should be and has brought balance to the Force (CFB)

With Miami being back in the spotlight, we all know what that brings which has begun already. The hate, the dumb backhanded smart remarks, and of course the cheating by the ACC refs (I don't even call it bad officiating anymore). Miami won titles within all those elements and honestly, I expect them to win titles again. The difference is Mario isn't going to the NFL like Jimmy and Butch, so this run is going to go on for at least nearly a decade, IM

After waiting and being miserable for 23 years, it's a tough thing to process/wrestle with.

On one hand, we've been miserable for 23 years and this is BY FAR the best season we've had AND the biggest reason for optimism we've had. So we should be thankful/grateful for that and excited about what's next. But we probably felt optimistic and hopeful in 2002 a well. Not knowing it would be 2 decades+ before we'd be nationally relevant again. So there's always that fear of "did we miss our chance?"

At the same time, it's hard to accept that we lost when it felt like there were so many ways we could have won that game. In the 2nd half, they couldn't stop us on offense and they couldn't protect Mendoza at all. Every break went their way and we STILL had the ball to win the game.
The difference is Coker and the rest of the Merry men of coaches weren't building the team with trench bullies like Mario is. Also QB recruiting was a disaster all these years.

That’s the part that hurts about destiny. We’ve been apart of others destiny while being on the short end. PSU 86’ and IU 25’🤬🤬

The previous two decades have tempered my childhood unrealistic expectations. But under Mario, a ten win season now should be the floor barring extreme circumstances. That means we’re in contention each year, and that’s a good baseline.

Coker simply couldn’t get wide receivers and quarterbacks to sign with us - I will never understand it. To have no wide receivers sign in 2005 and just one blue chip in 2006….to have no quarterbacks in 2005 or 2006 (Steagall left for baseball)….it was beyond head scratching.

It sucks. Miami needed to only make one more play and they win the game. The 3 big plays. The blocked punt, the 4th and 5 run, and the INT.
I wonder what would have happened if the blocked punt went out of the back of the end zone for a safety instead of a TD?

We just went through the hardest path ever to possibly win a championship and we almost did. But that’s what makes me satisfied, yeah we lost but in order to win a championship now a days in college football due to the 12 team playoffs it’s a lot harder now. Back in the day only had to play 1 team. So with that being said I’m even more satisfied even though we came up short because we know how legit this team really is and we beat a bunch of great teams. 7-1 vs ranked teams including 4-1 vs top 10 teams? That’s unheard of on any Miami hurricane schedule so the fact that we even made it to the title game is impressive. Idk maybe just me but I’m confident In the direction of our program and believe Cristobal has built a sustainable program so I know we will be in the hunt

After 23 odd years, it's surreal to think about the 2025 season. The rivals we beat. Fiesta bowl curse. Notre Lame, and so on.

What a season.

But, like coach I am moving on. We got our QB, and next year will be fun. We are good.

I think our Secondary will improve a little, and hopefully the D-Line can develop some nasty. Bain, and Mesi will be missed , really missed. But, they are awesome young men and hope they do well in the NFL.

I thought about that from the beginning. I was hoping that constantly getting pinned deep wouldn't backfire. I wonder if they were pinned deeper and the same thing happened if Joyce pins it and just takes the safety.

not one day has passed without me thinking “what if” Beck would have hit Toney over the middle instead of trying for the deep ball
