Man I feel like Indiana is a 1 hit wonder. They had all 23/24 year olds on their roster who had been in the system since their last school. They lose so much! Are they going to reload with more 23/24 year olds? Will they be as clean as they were? It’s impossible for them to replicate what they did this seasonTwo things can be true:
1. We played w house $ all CFP, exceeding expectations, therefore u have to classify this as our best season since 2003.
2. We **** the bed in the Nat’l Championship game similar to 1986. Ironically, just like Testaverde threw a game synching int to end our comeback while driving, so did Beck. Just like penalties, & inopportune turnovers did us in 1986, it did us in this title game.
This team felt like 1983, an improbable, unforeseen Nat’l Title winner, but fell flat like 1986 (although in ‘86, we were the prohibitive favorite vs. underdog).
All-in-all this is best season I’ve witnessed since being out of college. When I wear my Canes’ gear, it’s gone from “Wait, ur a Canes fan???” to “Wait, u’re a Canes fan?!!!!!” Just have to keep up the momentum & not be a one hit wonder b/c in today’s landscape of CFB, we’ve seen teams go from Dark horse, Cinderella stories one yr to My Little Ponies, Children stories the next.
I don’t see how they can rank us so low. We’ve won 10 games last 2 years. We reload at EVERY spot and return so much! Our offense is going to score 40 per game& not because we put up 70 on a lame like Syracuse. Defense returns one of the Nation’s top 2 leading int leaders who was part time starter who will be the man and another two safeties who hit everything! We return our top 5 CBs with 4 of them being good enough to start at ANY school! We return our top two DTs and some with starting experience elsewhere came in and our leading tackler is an all conference LB who returns for his 15th year! Plus we brought in an all everything DE that had 10 sacks in less games than our guy he is replacing played in. Got 5 star guys all over d-line ready to step up! Top 3 team at worst!Feel as if this time were really back.
Definitely will be ranked somewhere in the top 7-8 range preseason.

The difference is Coker and the rest of the Merry men of coaches weren't building the team with trench bullies like Mario is. Also QB recruiting was a disaster all these years. After waiting and being miserable for 23 years, it's a tough thing to process/wrestle with.
On one hand, we've been miserable for 23 years and this is BY FAR the best season we've had AND the biggest reason for optimism we've had. So we should be thankful/grateful for that and excited about what's next. But we probably felt optimistic and hopeful in 2002 a well. Not knowing it would be 2 decades+ before we'd be nationally relevant again. So there's always that fear of "did we miss our chance?"
At the same time, it's hard to accept that we lost when it felt like there were so many ways we could have won that game. In the 2nd half, they couldn't stop us on offense and they couldn't protect Mendoza at all. Every break went their way and we STILL had the ball to win the game.
That’s the part that hurts about destiny. We’ve been apart of others destiny while being on the short end. PSU 86’ and IU 25’After waiting and being miserable for 23 years, it's a tough thing to process/wrestle with.

The previous two decades have tempered my childhood unrealistic expectations. But under Mario, a ten win season now should be the floor barring extreme circumstances. That means we’re in contention each year, and that’s a good baseline. After waiting and being miserable for 23 years, it's a tough thing to process/wrestle with.

Coker simply couldn’t get wide receivers and quarterbacks to sign with us - I will never understand it. To have no wide receivers sign in 2005 and just one blue chip in 2006….to have no quarterbacks in 2005 or 2006 (Steagall left for baseball)….it was beyond head scratching. The difference is Coker and the rest of the Merry men of coaches weren't building the team with trench bullies like Mario is. I wonder what would have happened if the blocked punt went out of the back of the end zone for a safety instead of a TD?It sucks. Miami needed to only make one more play and they win the game. The 3 big plays. The blocked punt, the 4th and 5 run, and the INT.
It had not even thought of that.I wonder what would have happened if the blocked punt went out of the back of the end zone for a safety instead of a TD?
I thought about that from the beginning. I was hoping that constantly getting pinned deep wouldn't backfire. I wonder if they were pinned deeper and the same thing happened if Joyce pins it and just takes the safety.I wonder what would have happened if the blocked punt went out of the back of the end zone for a safety instead of a TD?
Targeting was erroneously upheldErroneously upheld missed FG? Which are you referring to?
