10-26 The Work (Coaching Search)

Pete, is it one guy or the majority of the decision makers that are against Butch?

The UNC thing is crazy if you look at the facts.

10 independent investigations CLEARED him and he has a letter from the NCAA confirming it. They need to get over it!!

The only news that excited me about this work is the line about SEC coaches, particularly Stoops and Smart. Mario would be a disaster. He may be forced out of Bama.

Stoops has done nothing but fail at UK.

Smart is a ******* college coordinator. How many times does it need to be shown that unless you have Cam Netwon or Jameis Winston, no college coordinators have won a title in 15 years.

The information I post here may or may not have already been posted on the boards or on my Twitter, but this is what I can confirm we know right now.

**Butch is still very unlikely. He is obviously interested, but the response has been an aggressive no when his name comes up. The residue from the UNC mess hurts him here. Crazy things happen in coaching searches, but I would be very surprised.

**Rob Chudzinski remains a name in the mix. After the Cincinnati loss, Chud's name began circulating once again. He is a realistic hire, but this is not the buzz hire Miami needs.

**Opinion on Mario Cristobal is mixed. Some believe that he has learned under Saban, but others seem cautious because of his reputation of being hard to get along with.

**SEC Coaches are expressing interest in this job. Mark Stoops and Kirby Smart are two notables that we are hearing have quietly thrown their names into the hat. Other SEC assistants will emerge as well.

**Marshall's Doc Holliday is a longshot, but word is he would be interested. His buyout is not considered a major issue and he is a tremendous recruiter. Think Canes want younger though.

Pete, what's up with all the conflicting reports that If Butch provides true clearance from NCAA he's in?

He was cleared by the NCAA but the fact that it happened under his watch is probably a concern to the admin

It got exposed on his watch...it began in 1992

HOw about the fact that he is a ****** coach?

We are doomed, its going to be a horrible hire.

Bring Back Butch! This administration has a chance to hire the modern measuring stick of this program and they are fawking around! Hopefully Butch's agent and whatever references he can get from UNC will soothe confused and uninformed nerves. He's 60 has more energy, passion and a solid resume, amazing network and these idiots at UM are throwing feelers out to coaches that are one-hit wonders, need anger management or are trying to Plan C the UN gig. Bring Butch home and get this right!!!

Al Golden gets canned, and you break that from you sauces who gave you scoop. These same sauces don't like Butch then implore you to sell that he is a long shot. Scoop traded for being used. While it's good that Golden got you out of the doghouse, did you have to come here and try to rain on the Butch Parade?

He has killed it at Bama....so no

Killed what at Bama? His offensive lines are worse than when Stoutland was there. Or are you referencing recruiting. If it's the latter, then anyone can kill recruiting in Bama, particularly at the time when he went there, Bama just won 3 national titles in a 4 year time span.

I see them SEC coaches that aren't contending for the division each year are seeing greener pastures in coral gables.. i.e stoops

Coordinators like Kirby Smart leave me skeptical never being a HC ...

We need HC with experience as a minimum, that they also have relationships and an ability to recruit so Florida

Other than Butch, that list is awful.

Yes one of the worst lists imaginable. This is why they need to hire an elite AD and let THAT man pick the coach.

This is why we end up with trash b/c the BOT picks coaches based on politics and relationships, instead of coaching ability.

Yup! I have little faith. Hoping I'm shocked and surprised but these fools never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. ******* morons

That moment when you realize your worst fears about the coaching search are about to come true.
Yep! We are absolutely going to fvck this up.

What relationships did JJ or Dennis have when they got the job here? Stop with this relationships and recruiting south florida nonsense. It is incredibly easy to recruit a place like Miami if you are winning

They didn't need relationships because the program was already on top.... Now it's different.

Look what happened with Golden

Thank you, finally some logic. That's y UNC is in trouble AGAIN and Butch ain't there

Jesus christ golden didn't fail bc of his relationships and recruiting ability. He was a renowned recruiter. He failed bc HE CAN'T COACH WORTH A ****.

The issue on this team is not talent and it hasn't been talent. We have more players in the NFL from Randy and Goldens tenure THAN ANY OTHER TEAM not named LSU.

Get a coach who can win, and you don't need relationships.

For fvcks sake Howard wasn't even involved in college at all and he built this **** from nothing. People like you are why we ended up with Randy and Golden in the first place, b/c morons get caught up in "recruiting" and "being cool with south florida coaches".

I hope your sauces are wrong. That's a horrible list with the exception of Butch (please, please, please).

Are the players allowed to talk to you now?

I legitimately cringed at every single name mentioned in The Work besides Butch, who's being described as "very unlikely."

This admin probably doesn't even realize Tom Herman exists. Or Fuente. Sounds like we should be pleasantly surprised if this search doesn't turn out to be just as disastrous as the last three.

Good work, and good job yesterday ( thought you trolled us with the soccer pic)
Can we drop the ban on former players on the sidelines?
These kids need some former players around just to let them know Miami supports them

With all due respect to Pete, I have to question his level of access to reliable information regarding Butch fluid situation. There are some on the BOT who want him and some don't. To say there is still a resounding NO (really from who?) when there are many overlapping voices at this time is naive.
In other words, there is no single voice at this stage of the search that would speak for the majority or be indicative of the outcome.
