1-0. Just another fair weather day at the Crib - Aaron Feld

Just read an article stating that the TOTAL UM Alumni living in Miami Made is 49,000. Total. How many have ever been to a UM football game? 25%.

Tell me you've never been to a college game outside of Miami without telling me.

You can go to these games at Hard Rock for less than 30 bucks per ticket, you get a canopy, you get numerous concessions including decent alcohol, and you aren't ****ing in a trough. Just admit it, you don't want to go unless there's an extremely compelling reason to do so. That's our "fanbase" in a nutshell. I'm including our candy *** students too. More of them went to the beach or got their rape on at the frat house than made their way to the stadium.
I normally give our students a pass because I'm generally fine with the attendance in the student section but I will say that I know a significant amount of them went to a watch party instead of the actual game yesterday. A watch party hosted by Gator Dave Grutman- someone that has amazingly been able to claim the title of being one of the biggest douches in the history of Miami nightlife/hospitality.

My girl has TikTok and showed me some videos of some Miami sororstitutes whining about going to the game, choosing to go to a frat house instead. That's this student body in a nutshell.

We were just coming back from a cruise, and I would have killed to be at a game....Oh well, College Station will be lit next weekend!!!!!

Think about this, how many of those alums are under the age of 65? People forget that the Alumni base has changed over the last 40 years. We are far more international, far more diverse than it was decades ago.

This is not true either.

12noon games are what they are. They'll always be a part of the scheduling in college.

Excusing the poor attendance, followed by negativity from the fanbase as because it "was too slow of a pace", can really look bad.

MOST OF THE ****SUCKERS WHO ARE SAYING THE PACE IS TOO SLOW DIDNT EVEN GO TO THE GOD**** GAME.

Of course they are part of CFB, but a noon game in So Fl in September against that comp is always going to pull that. Either push for them to change it or quit worrying about how it looks. It's been like that forever, I've been to many of them over the years. No amount of "pack the rat" Instagram posts, Twitter posts, or free tickets are going to change that.

If possible the school should do what it can to avoid noon games, especially in September. Every low tier opponent game I've been to a night has had much better attendance. Conference consolidation might help with that too, less chump games, more early travel likely as well. But you ain't changing So Fl, better to try to work with it and embrace it for what it is.

Exactly. HRS is great. Go to a game in gainseville and tell me how it compares to HRS. It doesn’t. That stadium is a ****hole in all aspects. Parking. Bathrooms, concessions. Seats. You name it it’s terrible. No better than the orange bowl which was a ****hole too. Only difference is the people that live up there have nothing else to do so they pack the stadium just like most college towns around the country. If Ruiz builds a stadium which I don’t think will ever happen, outside of the first few games because it’s shiny and new, attendance will be the same as it is now.

I'll say this, Miami fan's must lead the nation in going on Twitter to give away tickets.

I mean... I guess they are financially supporting the program, but you really can't find time to go to six home games a year?(and I get some have professional or personal obligations) but honestly, I find it... odd

Miami is a ****** sports town, there’s not much else to say. The Heat were in the ECF and the arena was half empty for most of the first half. People down here (for the most part) don’t give two fcks about athletics.

Admittedly I’ve been to FSU, UF, UT the old OB and HRS for college games, so that’s my sample size. Sure, the other stadiums mentioned didn’t have any amenities at all, but miami in modern times does require more to appease the stadium goer.

As for the students, atrocious. I graduated 12 yrs ago from UM and we use to pack the entire bottom level of the student section and it would spill into the upper deck for big games. Usually not a seat avail, and no one sitting either. I see none of that now. I was a student through the Shannon era so I guess we had some decent home games during that span but ffs yeah very disappointing.

The overall demographics of Miami have changed and you see the impact in other areas. The Coconut Grove Sailing Club was an outstanding place to keep a sailboat .. had mine there for years .. and we raced most weekends (BBYRA ... Biscayne Bay Yacht Racing Association) and we did the Miami to Bimini races and the Fort Lauderdale to Key West every year. The biggest % of the active sailors were gringos. Now ... 22 years later ... the CGSC has a significantly larger membership but virtually all Latinos who are more interested in the social aspect ... having a wine or beer on the club 2nd floor patio ... and hardly anybody actually sails. The BBYRA is almost defunct. If there is a big game that is a sellout then it becomes "an event" and more will show.

If you are willing to pay, those amenities are there. I have club level season tickets, it's nice as ****. If you want to go super swanky, spend the **** money. Amazing that Miami fans, most of whom are spoiled as **** forget that people are sitting on benches in 99% of college facilities, ****ing in bathrooms that haven't been updated since Reagan was in office, AT BEST.

HRS isn't Jerry World, but it's **** nice considering that it was originally built in the late 80s.

That’s the Pharrell concept he started. He profits off of um lol. I mean I tell people all the time here who went to school in the 80s that this isn’t the school that goes to Miami for sports. People don’t believe me. You want a football school watch the state schools. Kids come to Miami for strawberry moon wynwood etc
