Wow; so r we going to act like Shaq didn’t put up 100 tackles this yr? Shaq was not put in the best position to succeed, period. Sam was on nobody’s radar til his Sr season. Shaq was on EVERYONE’S radar after his freshman yr.

Manny’s scheme is boom or bust, and if I’m a LB I’m not f’ing w Miami, period. Our DTs either get TFLs or get lost and our LBs are compromised.

Alright peep; let’s do this: Let’s table this discussion for this season. (Hopefully we have one). There’s no excuses for either side of the ball; can we agree on that? Lashlee is supposed to infuse a new way of offense here, and we have been upgraded, athletically, at the LB position.

U know, like everyone else, I was real hard on Shaq this yr. REAL hard. But I also recognize Manny’s system is a very flawed one that puts up shiny statistics until it faces any coach worth a ****.

So let’s see how Huff, Flagg, McCloud, Austin-Cave, and Brooks look.

Shaq wasn’t put in best position yet produced stats that if he actually tested well and wasn’t known as athletically limited would be a 2nd round pick

You had high expectations for Shaq why? Because he’s a nice kid who gives nice interviews?

The biggest issue, along with the lack of elite first round talent, is that guys are leaving too early. RJ McIntosh, Kendrick Norton, Joe Jackson, Garvin and Bandy all made poor decisions.

Chad Thomas is an example of how someone can develop from borderline Day 3 to a solid Day 2 that starts games.

I had high expectations for Shaq b/c he was the #5 rated ILB coming out of high school, and had a **** good freshman yr to justify his ranking!

lol.

111 ranked recruit in the nation who had a productive college career with some All Acc seasons with limited athletic ability who can’t cover you in pass coverage and drafted 4th round?

Seems about right

Same story every year. Guys declare and most smart people are like “wtf?”and they either get drafted very late or not at all and some people are still surprised. Garvin and Bandy leaving was just stupid. Garvin could have played his way into a day two pick with a good year. But right now scouts have one good sophomore year and one junior year on cruise control. You’re not Jadaveon Clowney, bro. Bandy’s physical limitations limit him regardless. Maybe he could have gotten more time in the slot since the outside guys are a bit more experienced now. But the whole “I’m not getting drafted early anyway so I might as well leave early” is just stupid. You’re not going to lower your value by playing another year.

I'm not going to play in this Miami scheme if I lack footspeed as a LB.

I think with how disruptive the Dline is, there are opportunities to clean up a lot of plays as a LB. You have to have the athleticism to get there though as you're left out on an island at LB in this scheme.

Did they run shuttles at their pro days? They must have both done some additional testing somewhere. I'm admittedly not overly familiar with Amik. I didn't watch a ton of La Tech games. But maybe he's a better cover guy than Bandy on tape. There's always that.
Wayyy better cover guy then bandy..kid is a plug in play slot corner in today’s league..Bandy struggled in man coverage. It’s really that simple. Yes their measurables are similar but they are not the same football player. You can find Similar measurables across positions and compare them to guys who had success but that doesn’t mean they play the game the same way

You have to wonder who is in these kids ears. This all started under Golden I believe. Randy didn’t really have this problem

There are so many great prospects and so much data out there if you're a 5'8 CB with average speed and short arms your chance of being a high draft pick are nearly nonexistent.

Look at the D2 kid from Lenoir Rhyme who went high. He didn't go high because he got "developed" by his D2 coaches. His D2 coaches don't have some secret development sauce. He went high because he physically developed into a prototypical Safety. Same reason Greg Rousseau will be a top draft pick.

There's no such thing as selective development skills by position coaches. Stroud didn't "develop" Rousseau but couldn't "develop" Garvin.

Redwine & Jaquan is a great example of this. On the field, Jaquan by far had the better college career.

Measurement wise - Redwine great, Jaquan was terrible. Redwine goes 2 rounds & 60 picks higher.

Redwine improved every year though - there was development / projection in his evaluation too.

And some people seriously insist we have better than the #15-20 roster in the country and that recruiting services greatly underestimate our roster.

Yeah, this ain't all on the coaching and development. You can only do so much with marginal talent. Some guys may be late bloomers and you'll get lucky, but you can't bank on that consistently.

I'll actually give our development guys their due because each year we end up with average talent guys who somehow make it into the league and actually contribute. That's due to hard work and determination.

Gotta land the blue chip guys who have talent jumping off the screen. Straight up physical freaks. And the last physical freak we've had who was special was David Njoku. I think Rousseau can be our next special talent who has a chance at going 1st Round, but we've got to do better about getting guys with NFL potential.

Manny and most of the defensive staff been with the team since 2016.

I totally agree that Miami isn't that talented, but I think it's largely Manny's fault that we aren't that talented.

On defensive side this staff has recruited most of these players and had all of them for four years. Not one first round pick out of that? When, you go to the market and select the meat, veggies and wine, then come home and prepare it, then set and serve the meal and everyone one gets up and leaves shaking their head in discuss, you just suck. I mean, has climate change be bad enough to alter the air and grass in Coral Gables so that players just can't be Canes anymore?

I made a USDA Choice Rid Eye roast two weeks ago -- frigging fantastic.
Made rump roast last week --- sucked.
Fried two nice filet beef tenderloin this week -- dry.

Conclusion, only rib eye can cut it? **** no. I didn't slow cook the rump long enough and I left filet on the griddle 90 seconds to long. Moral, even the hardest beef to ***** up, filet mignon can be screwed up by a half-*** cook not paying attention. Rump roast needs superior coaching. Rib eye is very forgiving but has a lot of waste.

Now if you cut that rib eye into steaks like God intended and grill those puppies, then you got a 1st round draft pick and even the waste taste good enough to eat.

Conclusion, Manny and Co suck.

Solution: We need better cooks.
