“Play smart” - Jimmy Johnson

A good team steps on the throat right there, goes up 10, and that’s probably all she wrote. Instead, you get 0 and you’re losing 2 mins later. THAT sequence was the game.

.... and as we know, this isn't a "good" team yet—hence a coaching change on the heels of 7-6. Last time Miami took the field, Wisconsin kicked its **** in, 35-3, You don't shake that off in eight months with a brand new quarterback, a young offensive line and a brand new offensive staff.

Miami needed to survive this game and to make less mistakes than their counterparts. They didn't.

Looked like he threw up the U from Polk County from the replay, could be wrong though. Anyway, we aren’t near good enough to go all ‘91 Cotton Bowl in penalties. on a team, not good enough.

Didn’t we have like 20 penalties in the cotton bowl lol

Yeah, that was classic. 200 and some yards IIRC. I was living up in Boston at the time and Will McDonough, longtime scribe for the Boston Globe, wrote an article calling our performance college footballs version of “wilding”. He wasnt much of a Miami fan. Lol.

Yeah one thing when you’re kicking a teams *** and trying to embarrass them.

Quite different when you’re struggling and shooting yourself in the foot because you can’t control yourselves

The first dumb *** move of the night was Ivey getting suspended necessitating Blades having to be in there in the first place...

Disappointing to say the least. These legacies are built different man... they never end up working out.

Even with all that, Miami had the ball in the 4th quarter, up by 3, with a 1st and 10 on the gator 25.

With ALL the momentum following a 50 yard TD run and a quick INT.

Yes it was.

JT's miscue cost Miami the game. Not on purpose, just fact.

JT's inability to catch (tough, very tough) TD sealed the loss.

Holding on fake FG also equally responsible for loss.

It's many little things individually and taken together that result in Ls.

Same could be said for lizard miscues as well.

I surely wanted a win - but we're not quite "there" yet - no person lost us the game - we were measured and came up four points short.

This team has promise!

I thought that was a great example of how misguided our “swag” has become over the years

What they don't seem to get is that Swag doesn't come from getting in someone's face and trashing them or putting on a helmet blazoned with a U. Swag comes from the mental discipline to pull out a win when everything is going against you and the confidence you get from doing it over and over again.

Blades absolutely threw up double middle fingers at that Gators who was writhing on the ground.
Does anyone have a still of this? I saw the replay and only saw the U, friend at game said he only saw tbe U. Can anyone provide evidence of said double middle fingers.
