I will say it anyway, Brad Kaaya should be looked at for Heisman this year. And the answer to any reporters questions or concerns is why not? Another year under Offensive Coordinator and QB’s coach James Coley!

Every year whether it’s the professionals in the NFL or at the College level, every analyst states the Sophomore slump. I say that infection has no business around Kaaya. He mentally prepares for every practice and game well enough.

When Sept 5th comes around against Bethune-Cookman, you best believe Sophomore Quarterback Brad Kaaya straps up his pads, places the respected U helmet on his head, he knows he’s putting on an outstanding tradition of leaders and brings home the gold trophy the Hurricanes have not seen since the days of Ken Dorsey under center. I truly believe Brad Kaaya makes the University of Miami relevant and feared again. by Kevin Porterville

I'd like to see him light up Bethune in the first half so we can see a little Rosier and some zone read ball in the second half. I've heard he's a helluva an athlete!

Needs to win the big stage games. Problem: Al is his coach and winning big games is not in the 300 page book. BUT, Kaaya is that quality QB.
 
Kaaya is a good QB, but he's never shown that he can carry the team on his back, like Dorsey. Perhaps he has it in him. It remains to be seen.
 
Kayaa is a Heisman player, Frauden is a Pop Warner coach which equates to an average college career for the young man.
 
He had a great true freshman season and has the look of a difference-maker at the QB position. He should be in the discussion until the time he leaves for the NFL...

The writer of this column definitely had some "inspiration" when writing this article.

Kaaya will be awesome. Heisman? Not this year. Legit NFL guys across the country at that position.
 
For Kaaya EVER to get Heisman consideration we'd have to be a double digit win team as he'll never put up insane video game type numbers that some of these system QB's get every year. A "real solid" QB on a 6 or 7 win team doesn't play nationally. As far as this season, let's start with him being considered easily the best QB in the Coastal and at minimum in the conversation about the ACC as a whole.
 
I think he is the second best qb in the ACC but i have my wait and see's on for both Watson and Golson, Golson because he has more weapons than he had his whole time at ND.
 
You can compare the intangibles, but that's about as far as it goes. Dorsey was quarterback for the greatest college football team of all time.
 
He has no shot.

The team will have too many losses and I doubt his numbers are anything Heisman worthy. Golden intends to play at the same slow tempo (less plays for him), and he just lost 3 OL and 3 stud skill position players.

As good as I think he is, the situation isn't there for him to be in Heisman contention.

In Dorsey's first year as a starter (sophomore) he put up these stats:

58% completion
2,737 yards
25 TDs
5 Ints

Kaaya beat him as a true freshman in yards and TDs, tied in completion %, and threw more INTs. Kaay also did not have the same quality roster.

Kaaya will end up being a better QB than Dorsey, for sure. That won't translate into wins, though, with Golden at the helm.
 
Odds are stacked against him.
