During a recent interview, I listened to Dawson say this a couple of times. I argued it’s a really dangerous place from which to base a strategy or ‘fall back on.’

Something about erring on the side of caution and conservatism in football just seems unnatural. It often ends in failure - like prevent defenses.

Sure, Beck had a miserable game tonight. He played tentative on many plays, had errant throws, and struggled with pressure. But, this is who he has shown to be and therefore you have to get ahead of it. The entire design of the offense has to be to err on the side of aggression. Especially when you don’t have a QB who’s going to magically bring you back (maybe the opposite when placed into those situations).

I’m skeptical we’ll make those changes. Hope something unexpected happens. Reality is painful. Latching on to fake hype is worse.

The whole offensive scheme does no one any favors. It’s absolutely brutal. But we’ve just been subjected to it and told to accept it

If everything has to be an absolute brawl for each yard due to inept scheme then we have to sometimes force throws. Beck was 0/10. Dawson also 0/10.
Unfortunately this is who he is and Mario gets his **** hard for this kind of offense so it’s here to stay

This was the quintessential ‘switch rosters and see what happens’ game. They ran crossers. They got Brown in space on unexpected run plays. They isolated our LBs in coverage. They have a very good WR, but if he came over to us, who knows what we’d ask him to do. Oh, sure, the Rams condense their formations and have WRs lined tight to block. This isn’t the motherfarking NFL. We don’t need to get ourselves into a deep hole before we see a jet sweep. PUNCH FIRST.

Or, whatever, just don’t do anything stupid and hold on for dear life. It worked against ND, barely, and UF and FSU. Therefore, it’s a sustainable strategy.

Bizarre that multi-million dollar professionals fail to see the flaws in that line of thinking.

My thoughts exactly, it's like Dawson offensive philosophy has been taken over.. we don't come out to attack and score but to be methodical, gain 1 yard on 3rd down.. huddle up even down 2 scores, 3 minutes before half time wit all 3 timeouts and melt clock for 2 minute warning..

The whole mindset of offense seems neutered now.. why do we have to be down multiple scores to open up offense? Be aggressive? Starting wit mindset, we are cooked..

Hetherman is cooked also, he got raped today, 3rd in short he is still sending out Nascar package, no trap coverage to bracket bell on crossers.. wtf .. I didn't see one bracket for him, the crosser was there all game.. weak game plan all around

I can't quote this enough.. we don't come out to punch first.. basically.. we think we can just control the game but didn't script to be aggressive..

I never seen a offense at home false start Soo much either..

this is what shocked me....the bolded.

it was almost like he or the defensive staff didnt realize bell goes for 100 every **** game.

It’s pretty obvious that the personal matchups didn’t mesh with the play calling/decisions. As an example the first interception would have been a completed pass if it was to Daniels or even Jojo. Why throw a contested ball to a 5’10” guy. Also do we have an intermediate game. Beck was actually incredibly accurate to start the game. But it was all bubble screens or deep shots.

Also it’s pretty obvious the line can’t run block. Two games in a row v

The line sucked compared to what it should have been tonight. Run blocking isn't rocket science. You either do it, or you don't.

Starting to look more and more like Cam Ward made Dawson.
when you see by the week Beck looks alot like a certain connecticut qb.....then you would have to think sometime the passing/route concepts and run game get a lil to basic....yall wonder why around october it crumbles...well the tape and tendencies are now fully out.
