I think you're assuming causation that doesn't actually exist. The poverty doesn't "cause" the resistance to marriage.

How does poverty "make people avoid marriage"?

Yeah, it's a vicious cycle that could be lessened if people, even those in poverty, took the family structure more seriously.

Unfortunately, the 55% are continuing the cycle of poverty by having kids out of wedlock.
