I was looking at the rosters for North Shore and Katy (Texas). I think North Shore had something like 150 several years running. Maybe Katy, too. They take football seriously in Texas.

Maybe the UM coaches were treating the lunch only with one another as a working lunch. It might have been an opportunity for them to have a meeting mid-day.

I suspect Butch was superb at evaluations. Back in the '80's, my favorite football journalist was Sally Jenkins of the Washington Post. (Daughter of the great football writer, Dan Jenkins, I think the author of Semi-Tough, made into a movie). Sally LOVED the Cane's of the late '80's. I had a...

Butch had a very open, friendly and engaging personality the one time I met him. And he was already on the Cowboy staff at that point. He was someone you could immediately like. He didn't know me, I wasn't anybody important. But he was open and down-to-earth. I'm sure his good people skills...

Or maybe they need help at TE? I don't know. I don't know the kid. Haven't talked to his coach in ages. I only know that his tape looked good, but since I don't consider myself an expert I got the opinion of someone else who has more experience with that type of thing. We did move DJ Williams...

And this has been a problem with successive staffs at UM? I remember reading that Shannon let relationships with local coaches deteriorate. How long has this been going on? It sounds like it has been a chronic problem with successive staffs.

A friend mine, a former UM MVP (Harding Award winner) many years ago, has been coaching at a N. Virginia HS team. He rarely calls down to Coral Gables with a prospect. Last year (2018 class) he had a very talented kid who was a late bloomer, a sleeper. We made several contacts with the staff...

Read the thread on Walker. Some kids want to go to a traditional college atmosphere. Maybe that's at play.

Hey, I'm not the one who knocked Evans academically. It was another poster. I was just pointing out that even if the school was not that great other players came through and did OK academically. Not singling out Horace, either. He might have needed some extra help. Incidentally, another UM...

I remember coming in Horace Copeland was an unbelievable athlete plus had a very good 40. I was surprised he didn't become more dominant at UM. He was good but I thought he might become All-World good. The best track athlete playing football before Copeland might have been Lawrence Thompson who...
