Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Exactly. There are deficiencies. QB play, and thus QB recruiting, was a concern. His last year he rolled out ******* Anthony Brown. QB concerns playing out now on the recruiting trail. Mario can't sell a dream to QB recruits. His reputation proceeds him.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Wish I was wrong but dammit mane everything that was said in this thread is playing out.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Well when you consistently lose to inferior teams because of poor preparation and game day coaching you nullify that talent advantage. See: Miami Hurricanes their entire ACC tenure.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

But he's not the best option that's available.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Their defense is historic and carries that program. Kirby recruits like a madman but he's an ace coordinator too.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Xs and Os matter. Cristobal offers no schematic advantage. You can't out-talent your way into a national championship. Not even an ACC championship judging Clemson this year.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

He'll build the roster up to the point where it's even more heartbreaking we're sitting at 2 losses with no shot at the playoffs.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

In the last 3 years Cristobal has lost to Stanford, Utah, Cal, Oregon State and Arizona State. How is that any different than losing to VT or Pitt?

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

I didn't want Mario before tonight.
  10. RiDLer80

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

    More than Miami has.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

If you're ok with that that's fine. But most Miami fans have higher standards. That's Wisconsin/Iowa/VT level expectations. At Miami the expectations are higher.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

This is what worries me about Mario. He's supposed to be a great recruiter that builds inside-out and has tough teams, but Oregon was completely outmatched tonight. They got beat up on both lines and that talent advantage he compiled didn't show up because at a certain point x's and o's...

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Get a proper AD and you won't need Alonzo to be here in some made up position to supervise because we'll have a competent HC where that isn't necessary.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Full disclosure, Ole Miss is currently sitting at 128 in the nation (3rd to last) in penalty yards per game.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

My top two are Lane Kiffin or Hugh Freeze because I know with them their offenses will put up points. Freeze is also a demon on the recruiting trail. I don't like the idea of Cristobal relying on two coordinator hires to succeed. Having to continually hit on coordinators if one or the other...

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Mario has first choice of Samoan monsters on the west coast with USC down.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

What did he say? I missed it.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

That's not a problem if the guy's system is good. Nobody is complaining about Lincoln Riley's system or Ryan Day's system. Our problem was we had guys with systems that were all smoke n mirrors like Golden and Diaz.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

Randy Shannon, Al Golden and Mark Richt have all had top 10 classes, Diaz was ranked 11 last year. A competent coach here should have no problems stringing together top 10-ish classes. But talent only gets you so far. Eventually you'll need to out x's and o's the other team.

Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

He can out-talent the Coastal, maybe the Atlantic too with how Clemson looks right now, but what about in the playoffs versus Oklahoma, UGA, Bama or Ohio State? What if we're on equal footing, or at a talent disadvantage . What can Mario do for us then? He's gonna rah rah us to an upset? Because...
