    Salvaging the 2019 class

Alabama is winning because of a ton of things. But there is a reason they bought a billboard in Downtown Miami.

    Salvaging the 2019 class

That line was the best and worst thing that ever happened to us, because we tried (unsuccessfully) to recreate that formula ever since. Kehoe was constantly reaching for Canadian and Pennsylvania bums. Even our highly rated OOS guys (Youngblood, Symonette, McMeans) were busts. The good guys...

    Salvaging the 2019 class

In the past 20 years, our OOS linemen have been much worse than the local guys. The good farm boys don’t like Miami, and we aren’t close enough to identify sleepers. I think we need to stack OL classes like last year where we get SEC-type talents from Florida. My concern is coaching. Searels...

I’ll put it to you like this: do you think Bama and Georgia hired Cristobal/Coley because they like Cuban coffee?

Nothing new. I keep hearing good things on Haselwood but don't know how the losing streak affected his thinking. My guess is not much.

I saw him in person at camp. Very impressive frame. Raw and was beat often, although he had a couple excellent reps. Like you said, he's not a great mover. Don't know if that will improve as he becomes more familiar with the game (Bahamian transfer).

This is my write-up on the local OL: https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/south-florida-19-the-ols.135317/

Boateng is at Fort Lauderdale High. Here are his senior clips:

Have you heard anything on his progress? He looked OK when I saw him, not nearly as dominant as last year but still productive. It usually takes a couple years.

I think Fox is solid but the athleticism is a concern. He looked a little sluggish against Carol City.

    Salvaging the 2019 class

Boateng is really athletic and good mover, always under control. He’s one of my favorites. The only negative I’d say is that he looks a little smaller in person than his testing numbers. But he’s underdeveloped and can go to a new level physically with college weight program.

Fox is real solid. In terms of upside, my favorite guy is Jake Pope from STA. 6'7, skinny and really athletic. He's been committed to a Kentucky and may be hard to flip.

Could not agree more. There is a misconception that South Florida OL have been the problem with our units. The truth is that the South Florida guys are usually our best performers and pros. The problem is that there aren't enough. And it's difficult to go out of state because: (1) linemen don't...

    Salvaging the 2019 class

This class is a disaster right now. And I don't see a path to the Top 10. The personnel department does a great job, but they are limited by the results on the field. With all that said, there is still time on the clock. I think back to the 2015 class. Even in a brutal cycle, you still found a...
