WR Evidence Njoku injury

rehab, add 25 lbs or so and make the switch to TE. with possibly being a step slower and the freshmen we have coming in, make the switch and be 1st draft pick at TE.

The reality is that with Pope coming in next year, Njoku will be 7th on WR depth chart. Is it possible he breaks out like Langham? Sure, but Langham is a big body wide receiver now. He came in at 195 lbs, now is 220+. Maybe pictures are deceiving but Njoku looks like a rail. Rivals says he is about 200 lbs. He HAS to bulk up if he is ever going to see the field. Skinny 6'4" WRs tend to get broken in half. After two years of taking his Flintstone vitamins Njoku could get to 230-235. Personally, I think he has a better chance of getting drafted early if he makes a name for himself at TE. Course I was wrong about Langham, who I thought would never see the field except as a TE, so maybe Njoku can follow DL's path.

Say what? It's a huge ******* deal. One of the worst injuries there is for an athlete. Besides permanent damage to the knee, there is reconstruction with drilling holes into bones using your own patella as the graft. Pain for weeks. Then 8 months of rehab and up to 2 years+ to get back to form. As an athlete, the mental part of the rehab is the worst.

Go through that process and tell me it's not a huge deal.

Miami freshman WR Evidence Njoku left yesterday’s practice with an apparent knee injury. According to sources, the fear is that Njoku suffered a torn ACL on the same left knee that he hyperextended during fall camp.

Official word could come today. Njoku was expected to redshirt this season since he has not seen playing time yet.

Shame for sure

The Njoku TE brigade is the absolute worst.

The kid is a WR. Period.

This post would have made sense 30 years ago.

ACL surgery is nothing like it used to be...he'll be ready to roll for fall camp.

i never said he can't be a wr here, just think he could be a better TE. we shall see. chances are, he'll be lucky to be ready by the start of the season next year. let's see which wrs enroll early and who emerges. he may find himself a little behind on the depth chart.

I mean I have no idea what this kid will look like in a few years, but making definitive statements about these kids when they're 18 is a fool's errand.

For all we know this kid will end up bigger than his brother. I doubt it, but he might. And at that point he's likely a tight end, given the receivers we are bringing in as competition.

What? This is what happens today. Call me back when they can do stem cell with no graft or drilling into the bone, with a 6 week rehab.

He loses a year minimum. And when he comes back, he will be running like Bambi for at least another year.

Our last ACLs:
Berrios - didn't do **** the following year
Owens: didn't do **** the following year
Gray: didn't do **** the following year
Patchan : blew his other ACL out the following year (happens in a pretty high percent)
Gordinier: blew his ACL again the following year
Cager: Ain't doing **** this year
Mike Smith: didn't do **** the following year

If this particular player's name was Joe Smith no one would be saying anything about a move to TE.

But because his last name is Njoku everyone is dying to move him simply because his brother was a stud TE despite that fact there is zero correlation between the two.

Just stating the factuals here. Preach.

This is true. An ACL ain't a huge deal in the long run but it does mean it won't be til the 2019 season that he will be back to normal.

Wrong. I say move to TE because a 6'4" 200 lb WR is more likely to get buried on the depth chart and never play a meaningful down than turn into Merton Hanks. When he is done growing he will probably be 6'6". Not that many 6'6" wrs in the league. The actual number appears to be zero. I think Mike Evans is currently the tallest at 6'5" but I can't find any stats more recent than 2015 for WR height.

You were probably calling for Langham to be moved to TE too.

For whatever reason guys seem to struggle more with the recovery here at Miami than other programs. Now idk why but t just appears that way. A lot of guys from top tier programs tear their acl and look fine if not better the next year. Our guys seem to take three years just to look like 75% of their former selves

You are reaching here. This isn't a Miami thing. It happens everywhere.
