Wake game thoughts after rewatch

- While I can at least understand the rationale for playing conservative on offense, the decision to kick a 54-yard field goal makes no sense to me. Jake Weinberg is still an unproven young player, Mensah is more than capable of converting 4th and 4. Best case scenario if he hits the kick, it's still a two-score game. Someone needs to explain that one.

I said this to @JD08 and @SpikeUM as it happened, but the FG would have taken us from a 13 to 16 point lead when they already showed they were willing to go for 2 when they were down THREE 8-point scores.

Anyone who understands math (as Mario still does not) would realize that a 16-point lead is just 2 scores in the minds of the Wake Forest coaches.

Also, we completely ****ed up the clock for the last 2 minutes of the first half, which resulted in us leaving 4 easy points behind.

He got injured. He literally with limping but Fletcher pulled him up and got him moving towards the bench to not show it. It was clear on tv
Understand that, but would like to see him keep that killer instinct if it’s not a serious injury. Some games are going to be a fight and you gotta keep squabbling.

Mario should have went for it. There was a lot f bad coaching last night.

Not using a TO at the end of the 1st half. Dawson going pistol with Fletcher in the redzone.

Not going for it and deciding for a 54yd FG.

Just bad all around

Bull****. He's a freshman. You keep getting him ready during these easy games.

I saw his family before the game, they are all huge.

I agree he needs snaps but he clearly isn’t good enough yet no matter how much all the green tree hype men pushed him being the next great OL.

The one upside to the Wake game is at least all these issues appeared in a game we won by 13+ with a tune up game to work out the kinks before our next conference game. I'd take CMU to let Fletcher rest and keep Mali on a pitch count to let some of the complementary pieces (Moore, Barkete, Pringle and Mallory) get some confidence before Clemson, Also definitely think it's worth letting Cantwell play some snaps at tackle and have Mccoy play guard in place of SJ (similar to in 2024 when they'd have Markel Bell come in and bump rivers inside). On defense, it'll be good to just get more reps with this secondary to hopefully help with the communication piece. Plenty to work on but I'm personally still optimistic

Miami is the 3rd best team in the conference right now. Good thing for them is they don’t play the top 2 teams.

ND is going to get ugly. Miami can hopefully finish 10-2 and win the conference to make the playoffs.

1-0 each week
3rd best team in what conference.
