What if there's a miscommunication in pass protection and a player worth multiples of that gets hurt?

I'm not disagreeing, but there's more to the decision than money.

He’s going to get hurt even with good communication because certain players aren’t physically strong enough. The more physically ready offensive lineman needs reps to reduce chances of miscommunication in the future.

If we’re being honest, the preseason hype was a bit ridiculous from the media this year. The “rat poison” was at an all-time high. I personally thought this was going to be a rebuilding year for us, but we had countless people saying this team was better than last year, including a lot of our own guys.

My rationale was that we were replacing four OL starters, including three OL who were probably three of the top 10 offensive linemen in all of college football. We were replacing two of the five best edge rushers in football. We were also replacing probably the best nickel in college football.

Mali is a straight dog and one of the best WRs in college football, but he’s not the reason we made the national championship. We made it because our trenches were the best in college football, and we had to replace almost all of them.

They are ready to play through mistakes as freshmen do.

Put them in and let them play all game against Central Michigan. They need to see a wider variety of DLs and DL moves than they have seen from the UM DLs.

There is no better teacher than "experience". And learning from one's mistakes.
Agreed. I don't think the classroom was at Wake though with all their movement.

I understand the reasoning behind bringing Cantwell and Big Ben along slowly. No reason to rush them and potentially ruin their confidence.

Central Michigan is a great opportunity to bring Cantwell along - I thought the same heading into FAMU but they stayed with SJ (maybe to build his confidence?)

We need to move McCoy back to guard and put Cantwell at tackle. The current interior, especially SJ, is a disaster.

Fitz needs to move back to safety. I’d like to see Brown at nickel. Thornton isn’t it.

You don't leave 3 million sitting on the bench ..you let Cantwell take his lumps...even non football people can see this...

What if your current starters just get whipped or wait for it……don’t communicate and your more expensive guy gets hurt

What if you have an undersized guard on skates getting blown up and the QB worth millions gets hurt?
Goes both ways DM
We’re already seeing mensah getting happy feet in the pocket…

His first time having to navigate that pocket for 4 quarters watching a D3 guard get blown up and he isn’t comfortable stepping into throws or running an offense

"I want to see more from Keona Davis and Jarquez Carter after the flashes they showed in camp."

Let's hope the flashes in camp wasn't b/c of the weak (borderline terrible) IOL
