Please don't let Carter play, we already know what he will and won't do.

Everything I had heard about TVD going into this season was "he needs to learn to take the checkdown and not force balls downfield". It looked like he was making a concerned decision to get the ball out quick, even if it was only for short gains. It's like he was playing the scrimmage as if the bullets were actually flying. While Garcia has some beautiful throws, there were at least two or three completions that would have been sacks in an actual game. On top of the three sacks he actually took.
I agree re TVD there was something about watching other QB's and it was OK to take the checkdown. Also in the 2nd scrimmage there was a blitzer jumping up right in his face and he threw sidearm around him for a big completion. I think he is one of the few that will be unfazed when the lights come on and will be a winner. Just my opinion, have a nice day.

Great write-up, thank you.

I have said multiple times this is the best team since 2003 and I still believe that after reviewing this game.

I was thinking '04 with Berlin as a senior was better than '03. Went back and looked. Appreciate some guys were frosh but what a roster on paper! '03 had better guys on D - Wilfork, Vilma, Taylor. Berlin as a senior was lot better than Berlin as a Jr. Rest of that team:

Two 5* QBs, NFL HOF RB, best returner ever, first round pick in Parrish, borderline HOF TE in Olsen, okay line (Myers, Winston particularly)

DL has Pata, Atkins, K. Brown, S. Thomas, O. Harris ... legitimately capable
LBs Beason, Rocky, Gooden, Leon was strong LB talent
First round safety, two first round CBs.

Williams and Taylor won’t see the field imo.
Well we aren’t trying to win the ball game then. If arguably two top 10 talents in the nation with college size & elite athleticism can’t see the field something is wrong.

Leonard Taylor should start at DE over McCloud. We need to roll out Taylor, Ford, Nesta, & Johnson/Harvey as the starting front 4 week 1
Mc Cloud won’t start at DE. They are going to rotate a lot. Taylor will likely get reps there unless they bring in a significant contributor from the portal. You find ways to get Taylor and Williams on the field, even if they don’t start.

Leonard Taylor and James Williams will play, no doubt. They aren’t starting game one, but they will play.

Recruiting is a promises business for the top guys and you aren’t going to pull two 5-star kids and then sit them. (Even if some others might be better)

You don’t want them telling future recruits they were lied to, Miami doesn’t play freshmen, go to SEC etc.

Alabama started getting every receiver down here they wanted because they got Amari Cooper and he balled out. Then he told everyone that would listen to go to Bama. So they got Ridley. Then they got Jeudy because of Ridley etc.

Point is, the coaches will find a way to get these guys to contribute early and then they’ll play the highlights on social media every chance they get.

Leonard Taylor & James Williams has to get starter reps at DE/Safety for us against Bama. I want our biggest & most talented athletes on the field week 1. Stopping the run & controlling the trenches are the biggest keys to the showdown vs Bama. Upgrading the LB spot through the portal is a MUST! Flagg is simply not ready for Bama. Last but not least please keep McCloud, Jennings, Steed, Clark, & Wiggins off the field (Pope to a minimum).
So Leonard Taylor and James Williams(who arent on campus yet) are ready to start against Bama, but Flagg who is in his second year is not ready? I do agree we need more LB help I guess.

Bama's true freshman receiver (Hall #17) appears to be better than any WR our Canes have on the roster presently.

Miami has got to figure a way to short circuit this trend.

If the conspiracy squad has gotten to you, then there’s no hope for the future.

If both had been EEs I could see them getting burn against Bama in game one. Can’t see it with them being as raw as they’ll likely be, with the depth and experience we have there.

When we play them at 14-0 they’ll be in there!

That's a mouthful. Kid had some nice catches in their Spring game. So did one of our walk-ons.

I don't get how we can say things like the "best team since" when we got trampled by UNC is one of the most embarrassing displays in the history of college football and then you say things like the linebacker looked average to below. You cant hide that type of play and couple that with our talent decline at end... I hear disappointment on the horizon. One more upside down U from a UNC player without guys on our team having the game of their lives or peps getting penalties for literally removing said players teeth then this aint a best team since anything...

Based on what? We still on the "Manny never plays freshmen" train? Flagg played last year. TAC played last year. Balom played last year. Harell played last year. All the freshmen WRs except Daz played last year (if not as much as we wanted). Dunson played last year. Obviously Knighton and Cheney played a ton.

But sure the two 5 stars are gonna ride the pine.

Not in game one against #1 without a spring practice.

Chud wasted a national championship defense keeping Berlin behind center in 2003. It's as though the last 20 minutes of the Florida game meant absolutely nothing.
