UM targets Wright as RB board expands

UM targets Wright as RB board expands

It's interesting that UM'S staff is giving 2021 RB Jaylen Wright the option to play RB & Slot WR, but according to Orlando,FL 2021 ATH Christian Leary he is only being recruited as a RB but if UM gave him the same option he would reconsider into his recruitment.

There is a serious disconnect somewhere in UM'S recruiting strategy on this one. We could land both of these speedsters if staff plays it right.

Go Canes

who is worthwhile locally?

Daniels? Outside of a stellar pop warner career is he Miami caliber? Seems like a Charlie Jones situation.

Brashard Edwards from Miami Palmetto seems like a quality pick, but he seems to be all UF.

what else is around? I’m seriously asking because I’m not aware of any 2021 Miami caliber kids

Casting a wide net to identify and hopefully lock in talent is always a welcomed approach without it we don’t end up with DeeJay Dallas.
Yulkeith Brown is the one I like from Miami central and he's a pure athlete that balls in our own back yard.

Not sure I'd count him as a RB, but yes obviously Brown is a high priority and he is being treated as such (I'd imagine he would be used like a Percy Harvin Tavon Austin type in Lashlee's offense).

The point remains there isnt much locally so the coaches are doing their job and looking for talent location be damned

This is what I'm saying I like the Wright kid he got moves yes but we got kids here. Am I saying lets not go after him no bc you never know what could happen in recruiting but we have to start landing the kids in Florida first.

I want Y Brown and Wright. Brown is a Golden Tate type. WR in a RB's body.

Like I said you got Brown there's also a kid Brashard Smith, RICKY PARKS, KEYSHAWN SPENCER. There are kids here but my main guy I want them to get is Brown. He def got the it factor.

Maurice Jones too, he's got explosive burst & acceleration in the open field.

I hadn't looked him up yet. I prefer Hankerson's skillset but Jones would fit nice in this 2021 class. He looks physically ready so too bad he can't reclassify. His running style reminds me of Lamar Miller and he transferred to Killian so that makes sense.

Only 4 offers? What's the deal there? Yeah he's small and a little stiff but height is overrated for backs and you don't need much agility when you get downhill efficiently like he does. He's functional enough to find the hole and explode through it.

Nice kid but we got to much talent at Home to have to go outside for him.
So when the local talent decides to leave and go elsewhere, do they then start to recruit guys like this when it's too late? Just asking

Well the recruiting games start when kids are in 9th grade and up so when you reach out to a kid for that long and you don't feel like your getting anywhere then I would go outside. We forget Miami was built off in state recruiting period. Florida has so much talent its crazy to go outside unless it's a needed. I can see getting a qb or lineman out of state but RB, WR, S, FS, DB, DE, DT AND LB'S. We got that here.
Is it wrong for the staff to go out of state for a 5star **** NO, but to go out of state for a 3 star **** no.

With that thinking Ed Reed would not have played here. The coaches have to go off their own evaluations

A LOT of Miami's best players from out of state would've been passed over.

Still strange to see people who think that people who create recruiting lists know more about players than the college football staffs.

Ed reed was different in high school. He was an all-state selection at defensive back and as a kick returner and also the New Orleans Times-Picayune District Most Valuable Defensive Player. These are the exception's you go out and get from out of state not three stars that nobody never heard of. Like I keep saying The kid is good for a three star, but he doesn't even come close to Ed Reed Caliber when Ed was in high school.

If I remember correctly his only offer was Tulane. Again, coaches my have to evaluate and offer who that think fits in.
