At this rate of a coach a day, what day will OC/DC be announced?

Wait I got confused reading his title. Is he DC to? Or just an assistant and we'll be hiring a DC

On Navarro's latest podcast, they were **** near ripping Salave'a as a mediocre talent developer and a horrible recruiter.
Great football minds over there lemme tell ya

Did he proceed to tweet a brag about how he’s known for years that Salave’a is a poor developer and recruiter?

They had the person who covers Oregon, Oregon State and Oregon high school football on the podcast and he was the one saying that. He had plenty of praise for Mario and other coaches coming, so unless Salavea stole his lunch money or something...

It wasn’t Manny that was saying it. It was the Oregon reporter who was incredibly knowledgeable about recruiting and gave Mario and BMac the most glowing reviews you could ever imagine.
But man he did not have great
Things to say about Sal. Said that if he didn’t go to Miami he wasn’t sure that Nevada would’ve taken him.

He was explaining his take on Salavea based upon some analytics 247 utilizes. Basically Salavea could land 2 4*s and a 5* (a mean of 4.3) in a recruiting cycle, but if the mean of the whole class is 4.5, Salavea would be evaluated as below the mean of the class. Whatever. He sounds like a pretty good recruiter to me.

****, interesting. Mario making him AHC must mean something in terms of what he likes from him as a coach and as a recruiter tho. And a lot of Oregon guys on the DL have gotten 1st and 2nd team honors the past few seasons. Guess we’ll see

As someone else pointed out, the way they rated his recruiting was relative with the reasoning being that pulling a 5 star to Duke is much harder than pulling one to Alabama, so the person at Duke should get more credit and vice versa. The Oregon guy said that over the last 5 years, Salavea was at the bottom of the relative rankings for DL in PAC12 and that includes his time at Washington State prior to Oregon. He was really flummoxed by the move as he didn't believe he was that great of a developer either (I believe he said a B or B+).

But yeah, I mean Mario obviously sees something in him considering he brought him along before he has a DC so I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Is that considered a horrible recruiter?
I saw that as well and was going to post it. I've been recruited at a high level and this man recruited my son at a high level. I live in Dundee, Oregon and I'm very much involved in high school football. Always on the lookout for prospects.

I'm not sure why they would say that about him. I don't think that's an accurate assessment of him as a coach. IMO

I'm glad you're saying this with personal experience. Idk why that guy said that about him either. Big Joe is a great coach.

he wasn't primary on any big recruitment lol except for penei. give credit to the dude pulling weight on the top of the list there

also who has he developed on the DL? I can say Kayvan was gonna be a star coming out of HS.
Such a lazy post. We’ve all thought lots of players coming out of high school were going to be stars. Still takes good coaching to get the most out of them and help them develop.

A simple Google search also would’ve shown that three Oregon defensive linemen were first team all pac 12 this year. So this he hasn’t developed anyone line is nonsense.
