So your default is just to trash whoever the hire is?

As i've said, a lot of posters just want to be miserable. Your transferring your anger over recruiting to a S&C coach who you know nothing about

Exactly, nobody knows anything about this dude, so why did Miami hire him? He’s a nobody in the S&C world.

The greats gotta start somewhere, I'm willing to give this guy a shot. Hes young and hopefully hungry to prove his worth. I feel **** be better than Felder here

Your wasting time. Nobody on here is an expert at SC. Nobody knew who the **** Tommy Moffitt was until he started churning out freaks at UM on a yearly basis. We just have to take the risk and hope this guy is the goods. There is no data on an SC coach like there is on position coaches. For all we know he could be the next big thing he was just an unknown wallowing away at Temple waiting some someone to discover him.

All the “top schools” have their guy so they aren’t in the market. It’s a crap shoot.

I am actually a strength coach. BA in Exercise Science and BS in Kinesiology, currently a PTL and UFPM in the Air Force. I knew of Hester’s work before and I was excited about him. All I can do now is wish for the best for our Canes.

I guess my questions are, was this the best guy available?? Did we try to pry someone away who is respected or revered in his field??? If not, then we are plodding along as usual.

I’m not shifting through threads for his bio...can someanswer if this dude has certifications and does he have his athletes do Olympic lifts? Any videos of his work he is doing in the weight room?

Moffitt was here for two of Butch’s six years. He left in 1999 and Butch hired Swasey. The revisionist history is always incredible.

I have to admit that S&C is not something I pay a lot of attention to but I thought he started at LSU in 2000. The two years sounds right so we might be talking about the same year depending on calendar or season refences. But it does sound like Swasey was only here for Butch”s last year. Was he Moffitt’s assistant? I don’t recall SC being discussed much when we were kicking everyone’s rear, or even when we were down at those few years. Only this prolonged horror shoe seems to have brought it to the forefront.

Main college certifications are the CSCS (NSCA) and SCCC(CSCCA) He should be fine. SCCC is strictly from the Collegiate Strength Coaches Association. USAW is very much looked at in Strength and Conditioning job postings as well. He should be fine.

I just saw the video someone posted on page six and he did talk about transitioning the team to doing Olympic lifts. I don’t know anything about that stuff but was a good video and he does appear knowledgeable in doing what his HC wants.

Here’s an encouraging vid of Feeley talking about transitioning Ball St from HIT to Oly.

(which is exactly what he’ll be doing here). The notebook I see and hear the more I like the hire.

No idea why they do wrist curls or they even showed that, but the 16 110’s is a test Bama does with their players. I remember Gus talking about HIIT training but I’d didn’t realize Miami’s program was centered around that. The best programs have athletes lift 3 days a week with speed/agility two days a week and then some yoga. I hope he has some good speed/agility field work on his conditioning days. Miami needs to be explosive and fast.
