Great write up.

Al Golden is a guy who so badly wanted to be an expert, but didn't bother to cut his teeth or pay his dues under great coaches. He was 32 when he was the DC at UVA. That was his ONLY experience at a DI college. He had his binders and graphs and quotes bc those things are easy to build. You can't just build apprenticeship.

He came here and ran the program the only way he had ever been exposed to, which was UVA. Where 'good losses' go with varsity jacket jocks. At the end of the day, the guy was a phony. He acted like he knew football, but was grossly under trained.

excellent write up, DMoney would you go Offensive or defensive head coach?

Offensive coaches can have great defenses and vise versa. So it just needs to be the right guy.

I will say this. The most important thing to this program is building back the defense. We are a joke right now. Nobody respects us. That needs to change immediately. Kaaya gives you the opportunity to play for championships within two years if you build a great defense.

The thing is that we have the talent to have an elite defense next year. Thomas, AQM, Norton, Jenkins, Moten and don't forget that savage G Willis all on the DL. Young, Grace and Owens at LB. This thing can get turned around real real quick. My biggest concern was losing one of the only good things Al did, the 2014 class, if he wasnt fired. That was a stacked class where even the role players had talent. Yeah we missed on out on a bunch of elite talent, but it was still stacked and most importantly had an elite QB in it. Whoever is the next guy is, can come in and win right away, you win right away in Miami and the talent will come on its own. That was the difference between the last two hires in Shannon and Golden, the cupboard was bare and nobody wanted to deal with the BS. This time around the cupboard is loaded and in a weak conference. A competent coach loses one game at most next year, and FSU is beatable. Why? Cause they still haven't figured out the QB position. The right guy will have this team competing next year, plain and simple.

Mr. DMoney sir, What are the reasons for all the no Butch leaks so soon in the process?

Some influential people want nothing to do with him. Others like him. I personally don't expect him as the next guy because he's so polarizing, but it's not impossible.

One thing about Golden that I can't comprehend.
Is his inability or unwillingness to learn from his failures.
Mistakes happen and things don't work...that's life BUT if he really analyzed everything as claimed he did he would have made changes.
I have nerver seen anybody so unwilling to learn from mistakes.

He would be far less divisive than a hire like Mario Cristobal though.

Great writeup, DMoney. It's going to be interesting to see if the next coach can restock the cupboard quickly at several positions that should never be areas of weakness at this program. WR, LB, and DB were recruited horribly by Golden and we're really going to be hurting at those spots next season.

I'm personally hoping for Tom Herman to keep winning and generating buzz for himself. Hearing names like Chudzinski and Cristobal being floated around scares the living s*** out of me.

True, but those are easy spots to refill. QB and DL are the hard ones.

Well if Apple can bring back an ******* like Steve Jobs... A little rustled jimmies would be good for the Hecht.

Whoever the next guy is, I hope he doesn't consider Miami a "destination job" like Golden did. I don't want someone who just wants to coach the rest of their career here. I want someone who is hungry to climb the ladder. Use us as a stepping stone and we'll fly banners in your name.

Please tell me, Cristobal doesn't actually stand a chance.

Butch Davis will build another dynasty and retire here. I get so mad at them considering a tratoir like Cristobal and Schiano who turned us down but now he's desperate. Yet they still want to be all in their feelings over Butch leaving for a much higher pay day and promotion, 15 years ago. Especially when he wanted to stay and let them renegotiate a feasible contract but the same clowns wouldn't budge. It really is baffling.

Like many, I would love to see Butch come back. I played poker with him a few years ago, and he said that the single greatest regret that he had in his professional career was leaving Miami. He wants back in badly, but I just don't see it happening though the tide could change. Anything is possible. He could get an interview, do well, and then be right in the thick of things. What I do know is that he wants this gig badly.

I have been downright giddy all night. My jaw hurts from smiling so much. It's like a part of me that died has been revived. Might need to call the Dr because this erection has lasted for more than 4 hours.

My concern and hopefully it wont be now because golden has us in a better position is this job attractive

When we fired shannon look at the options they all sucked

When we fired coker ... Schiano turned this job down something just doesnt sit right

Brad Kaaya would have any coach drooling to have.

I finished reading this and it was like a summary of everything we've discussed over the years and sat through the FAU game discussing. Down to the Denzyl Perryman story that a guy like Tano and I talked about in detail once. It freaked me out then. It freaks me out now.

As I finished reading your post, a clear image of Butch Davis or Chuck Pagano came to my mind. I'm not really sure why other than it's time to take a step forward that isn't completely reactionary. Both involve some level of risk. But, I think either would succeed here almost immediately. You know the other two (or three) guys I'm curious about, but there are more variables there.

Tiny bit of hope is at least flickering now.

Lu, I don't understand the Pagano love. Help me out.

1)Do you have any idea of their price range?
2)If Kaaya isn't ready, what do you think of shirreff?

Allegedly Gary Patterson was set to interview but the school cancelled cause they had their guy in Randy Shannon. If that story is true and it wouldn't surprise me in the least, the problem clearly stems from the school and not the caliber of coaches that may be interested in this job. Hopefully we've learned our lesson

Have you heard of this thing called wikipedia? Look up his resume. Look who he coached under. Look at his defensive rankings as a DC in Baltimore. Look at his record as an NFL HC. Look at how many years and how many awesome coaches he worked for.

Then look at the resumes of college coaches who had similar backgrounds before taking their college gig. Then, if you can, find me 5 available coaches who have better resumes. When you are unable to do so, you will understand.

I will forever love Butch Davis for what he did here building a champion. And while I have no doubt he's hungry for the job, I worry he doesn't have the hunger for championships any more. I don't want a coach that is just trying to keep busy in retirement.

I sure don't want Cristobal or Schiano either. Both of those would be garbage fires. Cristobal is less qualified than Golden was and Schiano's hard line approach will get players revolting even faster.
