UM fans love a FB and a walkon. You'd think this was Nebraska or Michigan circa 1979.

Williams should help at times. But I'd rather have an extra playmaker on the field more often. Every play that extra OL Williams is on the field is a play that Herndon or the great Sam Bruce or some other TD maker is on the sideline.
And we sure as **** aren't converting on 3rd and short just because the kid is big, unless the interior of our line improves drastically.

As long as Gall stays out of the starting rotation, like he has at the start of camp, we will be fine.
Only way that ghey picture star plays is if a couple guys get hurt.

Chise, you're going to stop hating on a FB too. There is no need to be all sugar. We need a little spice in our game.

Richt is clearly going to use this Florida speed; but mix it in with a little physicality. The very sight of a FB puts anxiety in the hearts of a defense. You HAVE to anticipate run.... and that's when boom.... NJoku over the middle for 40 yards.

FB has become vital in pass protection, too. Sort of hard for a DE to bowl through a guy like Williams as compared to Yearby. I saw Mike Tolbert pass block for Cam Newton and stalemate guys all year last season.

The FB is on a comeback bro!!!

No problem with him getting 6 to 10 reps per game. Mix it up. We don't need that Schembechler **** here though. Your QB and skill guys are way too good.

As for pass pro, some of our most ferocious pass blocking RBs were Portis, Gore, Bentley, and McGahee. Those guys weren't limited athletes like the FBs on our roster now.

Agreed on the touches/plays. Not too much. Just enough to keep the defense honest. Yes, we've done well with good pass blocking backs. Yearby and Walton can for sure block as well as Lamar miller and mike james. TBH, we have a history of great pass blocking backs, like you said.

I watched Yearby stalemate Nebraska's 300 lb DT. Truly impressive for a guy his stature.

I'd wager that lumbering FBs are some of the worst pass protectors out there. I'd much rather have a limber RB who likes to mix it up (as you referenced) than a FB.

Guys like Hill, Nick Williams, et al were never known as pass pro guys.

Not true man. NFl uses FB to pass pro all of the time.

Lumbering? you can be an athlete at FB too, ya know?

Marquez Williams gonna be my new favorite player.

:q3XKXeX:

He's gonna blow kids up

We may finally have our "Mr. Automatic" on 3rd and 1. Back when I was at UGA, Richt had a FB named Southerland - it seemed like every 3rd and short they'd just give him a quick-hitter up the gut and he'd push the pile forward and convert. Really hope to see that here instead of the ever-popular "double-TE-reverse-jump-pass..."

Bobby Bowden was always big on the FB dive in short yardage. When you only need a foot or so, why bother taking the extra time to give it to a deep back?

James Coley on line 1. He disagrees...lol
