You guys are falling for the banana in the tailpipe.

Any time you read about someone one offense talking about they're going to be "more wide open" and on defense you hear "we're going to be more aggressive" it's classic summertime practice talk - straight out of the banana in the tailpipe playbook.

All that would be true except for the fact we have a high school coach on here who saw the DLine play "more aggressive" in the spring game. Completely scrapping the 2-gap philosophy. The same coach was told that a defensive lineman said privately that the two-gap was out. Why would that player lie? Maybe he is being lied to? Once the season starts maybe they'll scrap all the work they did during spring and summer and go right back to what they have done in the past.

All I have to say is believe your eyes. Are you going to trust 4 years of hard evidence or a couple moments in practice coupled with 3rd hand information?

Easy answer.

Maybe you think they used 80 plays to reinforce something they don't plan on using. As incompetent as they are I don't think they're actively trying to be terrible. Using the spring and the summer to change a philosophy only to revert back when the season starts is attempting to be terrible. I question whether they stick with it if things go poorly early against Nebraska but I think we'll see that one-gapping style against Bethune and FAU to start.

That is unfair. Who uses evidence to make an argument? This isn't logic world.

Will. Not. Fall. For It. Again. Heard the same ish last year....the defense is bigger, stronger faster, we have the personnel to attack and we're changing things up. Then.... on opening night against Louisville, first possession I see Tyriq McCord covering Parker. Many cuss words were yelled and many items broken. Fack these fat, stubborn, Doritos muchin, Joisey Yankees. GTFO and BBB!!

Haha!, Joisey?? Where did you get that Brooklyn accent from?

Or maybe wait for the first couple of games for more evidence?

Have already explained I forgot he was injured. But the point remains, HE WAS COVERING THE SLOT.

Totally agree. I remember being very amped for the UL game hoping/expecting to see changes on defense. We heard all summer long how much depth we're building, how good guys were, how we were going to attach more, etc. First defensive series - completely passive and that's when I knew our coaches had no chance at ever changing their stripes.

Defense didn't cost us the Louisville game. Coleys horrible gameplan, kickoff return td, isidora 2 bad penalties negated big plays. Defense was stout.
