Question: is Lawson really better the Stanley? I know Lawson is bigger and probably a little more athletic, but Stanley looks like he throws a better ball.

Only reason Knowles dont got an offer likely cuz he plays at Edison.

Edison isnt a hot bed anymore..so schools aint rolling up in there like that....

There has to be more to it than that. If that´s the only reason we aren´t recruiting this stud, then it´s inexcusable. I have to think that there´s some academic/off-the-field trouble involved. We have three guys on our staff who aren´t a year removed from coaching in Dade and Broward high schools. How could they not know about him?

I hate to defend our coaches in a way but the coaching staff are looking for obvious takes. What I mean about this is that they are ttying to do the less coaching up as possible. This would only explain the way they recruit. Funny thing is that, a team like Louisville salivate for thsee type of sleepers and have been owning us lately.

**** yeah Dwayne Lawson is better by a country mile, go watch his highlights (an keep in mind I like Stanley, but Lawson is whole other level of QB)

Go Canes

The question should be.....Is Stanley better than Malik Rosier?

When most the other safeties committed elsewhere, if Knowles has the grades, he would be a better option than either of the McFadden's. Excellent size, instincts and speed. Looks very fast. He is the kinda player we used to find that became a star. What's worse than a coach that's a very average recruiter is a coach that's an even worse talent evaluator.

This is a tricky question where everyone has there opinion. Im not favoring any school or team here but I would say Lawson has better size and better running feet but Sunshine is inconsistent but better overall. Most people do not realize sunshine throws a better ball and is faster in speed than Lawson. I like Lawson but I'm not seeing this arm strength everyone is stating. He doesn't let his WRs run under the ball or get them open. Sunshine is used to throwing to speed so I would feel more comfortable with him.

If Miami offered and signed all of those players, you people would ******* riot in the streets. Knowles has some nice clips but he doesnt hold a candle to Jaquan Johnson or Tim Irvin. You guys realize they can't take everyone, right? So you'd rather have Knowles over Irvin? Fenton over one of the Davis boys?

I cant understand how people rant over passing up the under-the-radar talent in Dade, but then lose their **** whenever someone under a 4-star commits.

I would take knowles over any of our DB targets not named Jaquan Johnson. But apparently he´s headed to Juco.

Because you can't please everyone. However, our coaches get paid big bucks to offer the right kids.

I like in the U2 video, Butch said he went after High Character players. So if I am going to pick one or a few of these under the radar players, they better have high character and work ethic.

IMO our staff over-thinks recruiting, that's their problem.

I've been saying it for a while, but it's as simple as this IMO...

If the kid shines in South FLA, against top competition, he's good. Some of these "under the radar" kids play against top competition almost weekly and they shine. Usually that's a good sign that a kid will excel at the next level, despite him being an inch too short or 10 pounds too light for our coach's preference.

This isn't the Northeast where certain kids dominate because they have a unique athletic skill-set to their fellow Northeastern counterparts. It's easy for a kid to shine there and then go to college and struggle when he faces (consistent) legit talent. This is South Florida. These kids are facing fellow D-1 talent almost weekly.

It's stuff like this that show how inept our coaches are. So much talent and we ignore it. Atleast 3 of those kids should be canes

So why are USF,FIU, FAMU, Cincinnati the schools they are committed to? We need higher rated players. Enough with the Ricardo Williams, Thomas Finnie, Jawand Blue, Vernon Davis, Larry Hope, Dmauri Jones, Asante Clevelands...... Etc

First off, those players you named didn't do much in high school. I don't recall any of them dominating at the high school level. They were given offers based on "potential". (which is subjective)

Second, I don't know what offers these kids have. Don't feel like checking. But what kind of offers would impress you enough to warrant a Miami offer? Talan, for one, has an offer from TCU. I don't know about you but I would normally trust TCU's defensive evaluations over Miami's.

Where did you see that Knowles is headed to JUCO? Is that to get offers later, or grades?

If it was me, I'd take both Knowles and Irvin! Irvin is a great FS prospect because of his range and open-field tackling, but he is also extremely versatile and can play CB and nickel CB, so I'd be fine taking Knowles as a "third" safety since Irvin will be moved all over and for that reason I don't think he's a true safety only guy, if that makes sense.

I definitely wouldn't take Fenton over Carlton Davis III, who I think is a Top 3-5 CB in the state imo. But I'd take Fenton over Davante Davis just because he is 6'0", long, extremely fast and has great ball skills. Fenton also has a lot of value as a returner, has been playing the position longer and is much more polished at this stage. Now, I think Davante Davis has a higher ceiling because he is 6'3" and a stud in his own right, but he is very raw and most likely will redshirt wherever he goes to bulk up and work on his technique. Davante would make a good safety too imo depending on how the chips fall between now and NSD. I see him at FSU regardless though, and possibly Texas as well, don't feel good about our odds.

I agree with you on peoples' reactions. This fan base is very hard to please, not to say I haven't felt that way or had similar reactions based on how I view certain players, but there is definitely a knee-jerk overreaction far too often from our fans. Especially when you consider how little we actually know about a lot of these situations, even as much info as we are able to gather with certain players.

Al doesn't see any coal shovelers in there. To NJ we go!

Also, Ivan Smith from Columbus must be underrated. Not saying he is big school caliber, but I don't even see him on some of these sites
