No you literally didn’t. You heard the kids were having trouble getting open, catching the ball, and if Restrepo went down there’s nobody dependable behind him.

Welp.

Our top WR last year had 370 yards. If the feedback we're getting is nobody is really standing out I would imagine that means this is going to be a weak unit again, which is a problem.

Bite my head off all you want but it's a massive problem that this didn't get fixed and it's going to cost us games if the unit is below average again.

I’m not falling for it for the 20th year in a row.

OC has not been good when he’s been the only play caller.
DC is a upgrade

QB has been good for less than 10 games. If he gets hurt again we have less depth than last year.
RB nothing like relying on Freshmen and RB’s who can’t go 4 games without injury. (But this unit is better than last year)
TE starter in NFL everyone else unproven or coming off injury
WR basically the same unit as last year that can’t get open.
OL is a huge upgrade

DE is better than last year but relying on boys to go up against men OL
DT is trash minus LT who really has 2 years of hit and cold (other teams will run us to death)
LB we are relying on 1 transfer to turn this entire group around
CB is way worse than last year. There have been zero camp reports that point to this group being any good
S the worst depth position on the team.

K another year always Helps here so this should be better
P definitely not better but no clue.

A loss to a bad team early or getting stomped by TAM could have guys watching for that nfl check and we’re right back in the same boat as last year. 8 wins, tops.
- OC still an upgrade over last year, is it not?
- RB is the one position I have absolutely zero hesitation with relying on freshman. But even then we're talking about one true frosh and one redshirt frosh. Not that crazy.
- WR same-ish unit sure, but less injuries to our more reliable WR in X, Hopefully a fully healthy TVD, better scheme. And just improvement and a lot of added speed over last year. Our top WR didn't come on till mid way through year too.
- DT is not trash. Our Top 2 DTs will possibly/likely be the top DT combo in the conference. Depth may be trash though.
- LB we're relying on 1 transfer who will clearly be a starter in a predominantly 2 lb defense. And hopefully guys stay healthy and the young guys who are clearly more talented step up. This is a CLEAR improvement.
- S worst depth position - not so sure about that we have a bunch of guys that can rotate in there, but it's also rated as the best starting group in the country, so ....

****.

This is what happens when you rush an underdeveloped Freshman lineman into heavy duty action before he’s ready.

That kid got mauled and his body never recovered.

Very sad and all thanks to the lispy ******’s incompetence.

Facts. I said it at the time in numerous posts that we were setting the kid up for failure by putting him in so early. If he doesn’t come back it’s 100% on Manny.

Everyone of your points is “if” “young” “unproven” “less injuries”

all of those are guesses and relying on unproven players. Thats the kool aid in you, which is fine. I’m just not falling for it this year.

The only point you can even remotely say that for is WR. All other points I made were clearly showing improvement from Last year. not ifs.

Wr isn’t the same unit it has inserted speed and guys seem to be doing way better in this offense.

DE isn’t relying on boys. Messidor and Harvey are veteran guys. Kelly is in year 2. Bain is the only freshmen that will likely play a lot

DT isn’t trash besides LT. Dean was a very productive DT at Purdue and was disruptive. Jhh is solid and Moten and Horton have a lot of upside. And you don’t have to be 330 at DT to stop the run

LB isn’t just relying on 1 transfer. Have a very talented young LB in wes who is going into year 2, a talented freshmen class, and another transfer

CB don’t know if it’s worse or not there have also been zero camp reports that say the group is bad. It’s more depth than last year and The browns, richards, and Davis have been spoken positively about

Safety I will give you outside of the top 2 is a question mark but let’s see if guys like markeith step up or if Richards get some reps there

@JustAFanHTX every time someone says Dawson wasn't the singular play caller at Houston, we should drink a shot
He was the play caller but its pretty fair to say he hasn’t had much successful without dana, time to prove that narrative wrong. Doesn’t mean he’s a bad play caller or coach its just been what has happened so far in his career

Thats because Air Raid HCs usually hire the guys they used to work with in some capacity because they speak the exact same language.

I don't think anyone is suggesting Mirabal hasn't had any success without Mario either.

Coaching Oline isn’t the same as installing, coaching and calling an offense as the main guy.

That’s different, i think dawson has enough experience good and bad to be successful here but its a fair critique to say he hasn’t been successful without dana.

Doesn’t mean he wont be he just hasn’t yet

So 1st team OL is -

LT - Rivers
LG - Cohen
C - Lee
RG - Cooper
RT - Mauigoa

And Mccoy or Samson are next up if a G or T gets injured. Which is an incredible upgrade to last year.

Question is if Lee gets injured (sounds like Sagapolu or Jon Denis?

Denis was awful last year. We have to pray for once we get a healthy season for the most part. We need it!

Bain is going to end up a 295 pound Reggie White type inside/outside guy when it’s all said and done. He’s going to be a menace.

Disappointing to not hear Harvey or Chantz mentioned but Mesidor, Kelly and Bain are on another level with Wayne chasing.

Just hoping Moss can grow into an effective P5 DE.

Harvey will get some snaps but he hasn’t shown anything really since he got here. Thought he would’ve been better. Chance is too stiff but can eat up some snaps against lower tier teams to give our guys some rest.

Harvey May get in on some rotations and 3rd downs he still has some use in our DE rotation .

I’m most interested in seeing Kelly’s growth from year 1 to 2. At times he flashed but has some freshmen mistakes as well with leverage and losing the edge. How much does he weigh now? I know he was dealing with a shoulder or something last year in camp that really slowed his initial progress when he got on campus.

My questions are A will Zion start next year if he doesn’t play enough to get drafted this year.

B if Rivers has a draft like year at LT and or moved to G will he be back?

C) speaking of C, Has there been any word on Antonio Tripp?

Zion is done with football in my opinion. Any snaps from him in a Miami uniform would be a major bonus. His NFL dreams are over.

I’d love to know more about Citizen’s progress from injury. With Parrish, Allen, Fletcher, and Chaney, assuming Chaney can stay healthy, there isn’t an urgent need to rush Citizen back into the lineup.

Are medical redshirts still a thing? If he’s held out until the last few games of the season, can he still take a redshirt?
Best case has been mid season and has never changed. The setback pushed the timeline back.
