MUCH more money and quicker career arc for Briles.

That one isn't on Applewhite at all. Not having a decent backup behind King is, however. But Briles was gone and nobody was gonna keep him at Houston once FSU came calling. Obviously a much better job with a much bigger paycheck.
I think it’s more important that it’s the right up and comer. In that case, Brian Wright wouldn’t be my first choice Warren Ruggiero of Wake Forest, Graham Harrell, and Mike Lynch of Syracuse would be.

Saban fired him as Bama OC after one year.

Granted Applewhite was about 28 at the time and he's a lot older and more experienced now.

Only if Miami doesn’t make the offer. It’spublicly known he’s reached out for the job

Publicly known by who? The same people that said Cristobal reached out, and that never happened?

Only issue I have is that our O looks like it’ll never be elite. Top 30/40 offense but never top 10-15. Like I said High floor/low potential...
Top 30 offense with bottom 50 talent tho.

I'm really not thrilled with Applewhite, especially talking with friends at Houston/Texas. Hopefully he runs the playbooks of Briles/Herman, because one of my friends described his offense as "the Alabama caveman offense".
Agreed. Everything I have read say that Briles and Herman were always the brains behind the offense and it was never really Applewhite that 'made the engine run'. Makes me nervous that he wont know what he is doing to the anticipation that we all think he is some innovative mind.
