The major problem with this team is O line. Either the players arent being put in a good position to succeed or they flat out suck. lets hope they can be coached up and schemed properly to succeed.

I'm really not thrilled with Applewhite, especially talking with friends at Houston/Texas. Hopefully he runs the playbooks of Briles/Herman, because one of my friends described his offense as "the Alabama caveman offense".

I'll let Manny know @Dilber doesn't approve of this hiring because his friend said he runs the offense like a caveman

I’m good with that. I’m glad we took a shot with Fedora. Let’s sign the checks and roll

Only issue I have is that our O looks like it’ll never be elite. Top 30/40 offense but never top 10-15. Like I said High ceiling/low potential...
Huh? Any of the guys we is considering ( really considering not like 5th options like Coley) will have UM as atop 15-20 offense in 2 years and from there it will just get better if there is consistency. UM had 1 year with Stephen Morris where our offense was great but for the most part we haven't been a top 15 offense in forever.

Fedora wants to be a head coach, oh well.

Applewhite is still a pretty good option and as long as his playcalling is like what it was at houston under Herman and add some of those briles principles he picked up this year I’m sure we will be more than fine for sure with him as an Oc. Uptempo wide open spread offense let’s go

Fedora would have been a solid A hire.
Applewhite is a solid B+ and depending on his hires on his staff could be higher. We need some recruiters and I’m really hoping we pull some big guns on that side of the ball

Diaz knows what he wants and if Fedora is looking for the first HC job then move on. If it’s not this year it’s next and even maybe before our next season ends he gets that chance again. Would have been nice but reality is he is over qualified.

As long as Applewhite is someone who makes adjustments when needed I am good with it. We will be better just be running an uptempo O that uses your speed and athletes the ball in space.

Well if this is the case it would be good to add a Co-oc someone with a different perspective like someone mentioned in another thread.

With our defense we don’t need to be top 10 or 15 on offense just put some points on the board. Let our defense rest and we will be fine.

The only real update is on offensive coordinator. I can confirm others' reports that former Houston head coach Major Applewhite should now be considered the leading candidate for the spot. What happened with former UNC head coach Larry Fedora? It's not 100% certain, but one strong source inside Hecht believes Fedora let UM brass know this morning that he prefers a head coaching position and that Applewhite is the name that's trending internally right now.

They need to get Apple to sign right now. We can't waste anymore time before some other team decides they want a shot at him.

Your ceiling generally is referred to as your potential. JS.

Interesting, I figured Larry was out with the delay in the announcement still happening. Major would be a HUGE upgrade over Richt’s offense and can still use the full length and width of the field to put stress on a defense. Although I’d rather have Fedora, I’m good with Applewhite
