Last year's WR group was solid at the top but uncharacteristically thin overall. This year, there are several national studs to go along with over two-dozen FBS prospects. It is especially deep with speed. I can't ever remember this many elite sprinters in one WR class.

Mark Pope- 6’, 175 (Southridge)- Smooth, explosive playmaker in the mold of Stacy Coley and Travis Rudolph. Played big in the biggest moments- the first two plays of his highlight reel are from the state semis and finals, respectively. Not a sprinter, but a natural route runner who knows how to change speeds.

Xavier Williams- 6’1, 190* (Chaminade)- Big-time competitor. Like past Broward studs Jerry Jeudy and Calvin Ridley, Williams makes plays on both sides of the ball. Running-back type build. Excels at tracking the ball and winning at the catch point with strength.

Kevin Austin- 6’3, 198, 4.71* (North Broward Prep)- Maybe the most physically impressive receiver in South Florida. He almost looks like a long-lost Njoku brother with his body type and acceleration (37-inch vertical leap). Timed at 10.98 in 100. Plays poor competition but he dominates. Won MVP of the Opening against the best corners in the area.

Junior Season Highlights #elite - Kevin Austin highlights - Hudl

Daquris Wiggins- 6’3, 175 (Southridge)- Big frame with the room to add strength. Has very good body control and excels in jump ball situations. Southridge had an inconsistent QB and three other FBS targets, which limited Wiggins’ opportunities. But as a sophomore at Killian, you saw him show off his underrated speed (22.8 200M) on end-arounds and screens.

Dominick Watt- 6’1, 200* (McArthur)- One of the most productive and clutch players in South Florida. Like Austin, Watt dominates inferior competition but is capable of stepping up to the big boys. Lines up at WR, S, PR and even in the backfield. His most impressive trait is his eye-hand coordination- he plucks the ball naturally and can locate it in a crowd. Speed is average but knows how to use his body to create separation.

Elijah Moore- 5’11, 170 (St. Thomas)- Extremely quick and sudden player who can separate with ease. Lost in the shuffle playing behind four FBS receivers but is poised for a big senior year.

Anthony Schwartz- 6’, 172, 4.34* (American Heritage)- Hands down the fastest player in South Florida. Schwartz’s measurables at the NIKE camp were almost identical to Ted Ginn’s NIKE camp numbers from high school. He’s that style of player.

Corey Gammage- WR (Atlantic)- 6’2, 188, 4.81*- He’s like the Palm Beach version of Watt. Big-bodied receiver with major production: 64 receptions for 1,065 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior. Very quick for his size (4.06 shuttle) and capable of running a full route tree. Speed is the only concern.

Lamont Finnie- 5’9, 165* (Edison)- One of my favorite players in the class. Extremely smooth changing directions and gears up quickly. High upside as a corner or receiver. Also plays QB and returner for Edison.

Akeem Hayes- 5’9, 165 (South Broward)- Big-time suddenness and acceleration. Dangerous returner who can beat angles. Has some elusiveness but wins with burst. Does most of his damage after the catch in space.

Terrell Perriman- 5’10, 176, 4.61* (Central)- Breakout candidate who was recently offered by Georgia. Nephew of former Canes great Brett Perriman and cousin of first rounder Breshad Perriman. Similar to Elijah Moore as a sudden, quick slot prospect.

Carlos Sandy- 5’9, 150, 4.6* (Cardinal Gibbons)- Exceptional athlete (4.1 shuttle, 37 inch vertical) who is also a real receiver. Natural hands catcher. Very QB friendly- will come back to the ball and adjust to errant throws. Underrated player.

Bryce Oliver- 6’3, 195 (Dillard)- Springy basketball player who can leap. Not a sprinter but twitched up with good burst. Holds an early Kentucky offer and has the upside to attract more Power 5 attention.

Tyquan Thornton- 6'3, 165 (Booker T) Another potential breakout who could have a huge season with 2019 QB Daniel Richardson. Track star with elite speed- 10.5 in 100M, 21.30 in 200M and 46.97 in 400M. High ceiling if he continues to develop as a football player. Track offer from LSU.

Marvin Alexander- 6’2, 175 (Chaminade)- Flanagan transfer who plays like a faster Rodney Scott. Very good catch radius and can extend for difficult catches. Committed to Kentucky.

Tyler Harrell- 6’, 165, 4.52*(Columbus)- Sprinter (10.58) with legit speed to beat angles. More of a track guy than a polished pass-catcher at this point. Fits best in a spread offense where he can get the ball quickly in space. I’d like to see him try his hand at corner.

Terrence Horne, Jr.- 5’8, 161, 4.52* (Carol City)- Yet another track stud and legit home run threat. PRs of 10.58 in the 100M and 21.64 in the 200M. More of a Percy Harvin-type than a pure receiver and does a lot of damage in the backfield or on jet sweeps. 4.02 shuttle.

Roy Livingstone- 5’11, 160* (Northwestern)- Smooth mover who is flying under the radar. Made huge plays against Tyson Campbell and Pat Surtain to help Northwestern upset American Heritage. TuTu Atwell’s favorite target. Can go up and get the ball.

Cornelius Mccoy- WR (Deerfield Beach)- Another potential breakout candidate. Was stuck behind Jerry Jeudy (Alabama), Leroy Henley (ECU) and Daewood Davis (Oregon) but will be in a featured role this year. Reminds me a bit of Malcolm Lewis.

Tavares Kelly – 5’7, 170* (St. Thomas)- Undersized but competitive playmaker who projects as an excellent punt returner. Elite quickness.

Ladarius Burrows- 6’3, 185 (Coconut Creek)- Tall vertical receiver who has some speed. Was buried behind some big name players as a sophomore but really emerged as a junior. Ascending player who will get more offers this spring.

Ivan Thomas- 6’3, 205 (Palmetto)- Big-bodied jump ball receiver. Knows how to use his body to box out. Does a good job high-pointing the ball. A bit lumbering and may fit best as an H-back.

Atorian Perry- 6’4, 169* (Park Vista)- Verified 37.5 inch vertical. Can win in jump ball situations. Not as good of a high-pointer as Thomas but a better athlete. Plays some CB on defense. Too much of a body-catcher at times. Also plays basketball.

Logan Giordano- 5’11, 168, 4.74* (Chaminade)- Tough, confident player who can really track the ball. Transferred from McCarthy to face better competition. More coordinated than explosive. Also a highly productive defensive back with ball skills.

Jamari Sweet- 5’10, 175 (Plantation)- Fun player who competes like a poor-man’s Jarvis Landry. Excellent eye-hand coordination and can make the tough catches. Violent gunner on special teams. Lack of speed hurts him but a good player.
