We saying Gurvan Hall and Gilbert Frierson are safeties at the next level?

Love all our potential cb's but concerned at the safety position.

he did a write up on '18 safeties too

Surtain still not a finished product at CB?

He's had the best coaching imaginable. Not finished is a strange take.

'cause no one is a finished product at 17-18 regardless of how much coaching they had up to that point esp at a position like corner

Want to know why Manny Diaz isn't wasting his time with national corners? All three of these guys are from South Florida:

It's like this almost every cycle at the skill positions. I'm still mad about Alphonso Smith and Jayron Hosley.

Our CB recruiting was absolute dog **** under Golden. So many good guys were passed up for various reasons that didn't hinder them from becoming good players at their respective colleges.

The University of Miami CB corps should be elite every year. They grow on trees down here.

Three of the top corners in the NFL are Patrick Peterson (Broward), Xavier Rhodes (Miami-Dade) and Janoris Jenkins (Palm Beach). This is a region that produces corners. But I can’t remember a class with this much size and ability. There are several NFL starters in this group and a bunch of guys who will make waves in college.

*= verified numbers

Uncommitted - Tyson Campbell- 6’3, 181, 4.47* (American Heritage)- One of the biggest freaks we’ve ever had down here. State champion in 100M (10.4) and 200M (20.8). Already huge and may not be done growing. Willing tackler who could also play safety. Reminds me of a bigger, faster Artie Burns.

Uncommitted - Patrick Surtain, Jr.- 6’2, 192, 4.57* (American Heritage)- It’s rare to have a prospect like Tyson Campbell. It’s even more rare to have a guy like Surtain in the same class. And it’s unthinkable to have two corners that gifted on the same HS team. Like Campbell, Surtain is big and fast (10.87 100M) but he has the added ability to score with the ball in his hands. Still not a finished product at corner.

Miami - Al Blades, Jr.- 6’, 170* (St. Thomas)- Aggressive, wiry corner with a big personality. Dominates top receivers in camp settings. Excellent feet. 3.95 verified shuttle as a sophomore. Quicker than fast. Plays in a rotation with 2019 stud Jaden Davis. Can be too aggressive at times and needs to improve his patience. A coach like Rumph is perfect for him.

Miami - DJ Ivey- 6’1, 170* (South Dade)- Long, lanky corner with the feet of a little man. Extremely smooth and fluid. Missed most of his junior year but exploded as a senior with 5 INTs. Excellent IQ and recognition skills. Speed is the only thing holding him back from five-star status.

Uncommitted - Asante Samuel, Jr.- 5’9.5, 165* (St. Thomas)- Maybe the best high school corner on the list. Elite feet and balance. Makes plays on the ball like his father. Big-time special teams player who has blocked multiple kicks. Has some Vernon Hargreaves, Jr. in his game. Lacks great size and speed but is a pure player.

Ole Miss - Keidron Smith- 6’2, 180, 4.72*(Oxbridge)- Ascendant athlete. Excels in basketball and brings some of that explosion and coordination to the corner position. I’ve heard comparisons to a taller Corn Elder and it fits. Flashes physicality.

Georgia - Divaad Wilson- 6’, 180, 4.62* (Northwestern)- Looks the part of an elite corner. Long arms, sturdy frame and excellent athleticism. Strong hands to snatch INTs. I’ve heard mixed things about his mental makeup but he has sky-high upside.

Uncommitted - Nigel Bethel- 6,’ 170 (Northwestern)- Size/speed prospect with intriguing upside. Played mostly receiver for the state champion Bulls and made big plays at key moments. Caught my eye with an explosive catch-and-run against Central. 10.78 in the 100M and handtimed at 4.38 in the 40. Contributes on special teams as well.

NC State - Teshuan Smith- 6’2, 170 (Western)- Underrated player from an underrated program. Natural corner movement. Fluid with some ball skills. Reminds me a bit of DJ Ivey. NC State commit.

Kentucky - Stanley Garner- 6’1, 170 (Dillard)- Like Keidron Smith, Garner is a long two-way player who stars on the hardwood. Has the coordination and bounciness you would expect from a hooper. Cornerback feet. Intriguing potential as he gets stronger and more physical. Kentucky commit.

Oklahoma - Miguel Edwards – 5’11, 169* (Deerfield Beach)- Oklahoma commit with smooth, versatile game. Key member of a dominant Bucks defense. Played some safety last year for Coconut Creek but projects as a corner. Good tackler.

Marquis Williams- 5’9, 165* (Cardinal Gibbons)- Like Edwards, Williams is a classic South Florida corner- undersized, quick and competitive. Plays bigger than his size with the ball in the air. Excellent change of direction. Dangerous with the ball in his hands. Pitt commit.

Louisville - Chandler Jones- 5’10, 173 (Central) Smooth mover who can mirror all day. Best in off-coverage. Undersized with average speed. Excellent feet. Pure cover corner. Louisville commit.

Teja Young – 5’11, 170 (Palm Beach Lakes)- One of the more underrated corners in the class. HS QB with very good shake in the open field. Not overly long but well put-together. Has some pop as a tackler. Colorado State commit.

Jamari Brown- 6’1 170 (Ely) Speedy talent from Patrick Peterson’s old school. Good size and natural tools. Makes plays at receiver. Raw on defense. Kentucky commit with upside.

Indiana - Noah Pierre- 5’9, 170 (Champagnat)- Fun player who is starting to generate Power 5 interest. Undersized but twitched up with outstanding short-area burst. Can deliver a jolt. Excellent feet and ball skills. Slot corner traits. Won a state championship at Champagnat after spending his junior year at Hallandale.

Kenih Lovely- 5’10, 167 (Delray Beach Atlantic)- Rock-solid corner who just won a state championship for Atlantic, a noted DB factory. One of the top ballhawks in Palm Beach. Not afraid to come up against the run. Average speed but athletic. Dwyer transfer. Western Michigan commit.

Illinois - Ron Hardge III- 6’, 167, 4.8* (Cardinal Gibbons)- Productive member of a gifted Gibbons secondary. Lacks explosion but plays with instincts. Could end up at safety or corner. Illinois commit.

Yanez Rogers, Jr.- 6’1, 170 (Ely)- Dynamic HS QB who made some highlight reel plays as a senior. Lightning quick. Can make defenders look silly in short spaces. Average speed. Needs to get stronger. Cincinnati commit.

Avery Thornton- 6’1, 175, 4.8* (Boyd Anderson)- Two-way player with some length and athleticism. Does not have great speed but moves well. Decommitted from UCF following Scott Frost’s departure.

Traquan Butler- 5’9, 170 (Southridge)- Undersized, feisty Killian transfer who some have called a poor man’s Trajan Bandy. Twitchy and competitive. Good ball skills (5 INTs as junior).

Eric “Dank” Smith- 5’10, 170 (Norland)- South Florida dog who plays reckless. Lines up at safety for Norland but projects as a corner at the next level. Good feet on the camp circuit. Comes from a program that produces as much NFL talent as anyone. Shocked he doesn’t have more Group of 5 offers.

FIU - Jamal Anderson- 6’1, 170* (South Dade)- Big corner with ball skills. Will go up and high-point the football. Had two INTs against Coral Gables earlier this season. Speed is the question mark. May end up at safety.

UCF - Jermaine McMillan (Booker T)- 6’2, 185- Wiry corner who plays aggressive. Has some stiffness and may fit best at safety. UCF commit.

Bryand Rincher- 5’9, 147, 4.43* (Piper)- Arguably the fastest corner in the country. Timed at 10.3 in the 100M. Still developing as a football player. Fearless and explosive tackler despite his size. Can flip his hips. Decommitted from Western Kentucky to sign a track scholarship with FSU.
Updated DMoney’s post. School choice before name. Bold are the kids who’ve signed so far. Non-S. FL, John Huggins signed with Florida.

PS2 best corner in the nfl this year. Cant let those leave
No he was not , but I’ll give you the fact that you posted that before the season was over

Pat surtain isn’t even the best corner in his draft class

Still hurts we couldn’t get him at Miami but clearly he made the best choice for him with how manny was running this program
