No JUCO's , Miami needs long term answers at DT.

I posted this in another thread but Lamonte McDougle's film is pretty **** impressive:

If there is an undersized DT out there that compares to Aaron Donald, it's this guy.

i would take him.

Not a great crop. We better be putting all of our resource$ into getting some of the top national prospects.

not a great crop? normally we barely have any d1 level DT prospects in south florida. this is actually a pretty strong year.

Even when there have been big prospects in SFL, they haven't panned out that well. The killer Bs with Bryant, Bain, and Bostwick looks pretty underwhelming. We've all heard the Valentine saga. No idea how Khairi Clark is doing.

grab one from south florida...seem to have one locked up with a potential other.....

do what bama does...and offer every able bodied dt prospect in America. this is a position you have to recruit nationbally, and state wide. S.fla wont produce this in bunches...if you have 2-4 legit 3 star level players in the area that's a good year.

Exactly! This is the only way to go about recruiting this position. As for the SoFla DTs, this is a very good group. Keeping Ford is a must and I love Colson's potential. I think Bennett and Rouse have the potential to really blow up their Senior years. Currently I do not know who the top national DT prospects are but every single one needs to have a Miami offer. I'm actually very confident about our ability to recruit this position going forward. Not only do we have the best DL coach in the nation but we have a scheme that asks the DTs to penetrate, disrupt and dominate.

Career reviews

Jon Ford - Signed with Miami. Wildly inconsistent, shows flashes of excellence & then disappears for long stretches. Nonetheless, he is a 3 year starter.

Rashad Colson - Signed with FIU. Redshirted first year, has been reserve defensive lineman his entire career.

Kivon Bennett - Signed with Tennessee. Backup first two years, starter last 2. Got arrested on gun & drug charges and transferred to Arkansas State, where he had a dominant 2021 season with 7 sacks & 15.5 tackles for loss.

George Ellis - Signed with TCU. Redshirted first year, has battled injuries last 4 years.

Chris Whittaker - Signed with Kentucky. Redshirted first year, backup in 2018. Transferred to FIU in 2019, where he was part of rotation in 2019, battled injuries in 2020, entered the portal in 2021, went to Nevada then entered the portal AGAIN before the season started. Status unclear

Jacob Lichtenstein - Signed with USC. Redshirted first year, then battled injuries the last 4 years. Was part of rotation when healthy. Recently transferred to Miami.
