I mean he took over a worse program and has already won more at it than Mario has here.

So you do think he is a good coach. Make up your mind. But about those two losses, one being by 32 points......

When Louisville's best RB fumbled he got benched in one of the most critical moments of the game. I have yet to see any sort of repercussions for a player that gets a personal foul call or stupid penalty. These kids need to sit. I don't care if it's Cici or Bain. You do something stupid you're sitting out that drive. And if it hurts the team because you're out that's on you.

Need to watch it again, but believe Bell had a receptfggggggg or two along the sideline. Bell was too physical for him.
No, I think you're talking about the bang-8 or the skinny post he ran for 12 yards and the 7-yard out route. They were in zone coverage, but even if you add those up, that's 19 yards for the whole game. Minus the two drag routes they kept running all night, even when OJ wasn't even on him. The other four targets were pass breaks with no chance of catching the ball.

Jordan Lyle is bouncing around and struggling to fit the run scheme.

What run scheme?
1 run play out of 6-7 different set where RB looks for a crease between G and C. If it's not there just put your face mask into the Guards numbers........ That running scheme

Take your word, but hopefully can find time to rewatch.

I never said he was good or bad. But if you want to know, I think he’s a pretty good coach. He’s done very well at a worse program with less talent and less money than Mario has here. And as a 1st time HC no less. It’s a results oriented business. He’s gotten good results.

Not this year's Utah. But you go off on that tangent.
This isn’t the own you think it is. Losing on the road to a decent Utah team when your starting QB doesn’t play is criminal, is that right?

What do you think would happen to Miami if Beck couldn’t play? 90% of teams would look god awful if their starting QB was out.

But his press conference quotes. Those are the real separators.

By 32 points to a mid Utah team? 32 points.

But fire up that excuse machine while shredding our coach for a three point loss.

Friday night in the ACC

No excuses. Miami lost this game and Louisville had the better game plan. I blame Mario for the team coming out sluggish and for continuing to be the most penalized team in the nation. I really scratch my head at how undisciplined the team has been under him when he preaches discipline so much.

Offense

Kind of hard to put a huge blame on anyone but Carson Beck if we’re being honest. The INT’s were terrible. He had check downs on nearly every INT he threw. UL defense did a great job of moving him off his spot. Multiple times he stepped up in the pocket and A) took off too early or B) looked uncomfortable and unable to stand tall after stepping up. I blame Dawson for not being creative enough early. Once you see we can’t run it against a stacked box then he should have spread the formation out with 3/4 WR’s and tried to force UL to lighten the box. Also, no creativity until that drive after the UL turnover.

Defense

Everyone in America knew UL was going to get the ball out quick and throw it to Bell and you still couldn’t stop it. Terrible first two drives on the defense. But, to their credit, only allowed 10 more pts after that and even allowed 0 off of the Beck turnovers which is a miracle. My biggest gripe is not causing turnovers. OJ got his hands on the ball 3 times and didn’t come up with it. Felt like Moss made enough turnover worthy throws that we didn’t capitalize on, meanwhile UL came away with every ball that thrown near them on defense. Listening to the CFB PFF show they said UL had something like 150+ passing yards on yac alone. Thats being out played both scheme and execution.

I would say Louisville was the most talented team left on our schedule. And Miami still had a chance to win it in the end, if it weren’t for bad running scheme and Beck having money on the game (sarcasm). CFB is so much more even now. Mario is going to be able to out talent 9-10 games a year but there is good coaching across college football so if you are not on your A game you’re going to lose. Moving forward this team and Mario must prove to themselves that they belong in Charlott. Must win out, 11-1 and they probably need to boat race some teams if pt differential is a part of some tie breaker.

***** move by the by the owner of this site to bring up the fans
If you get out of work at 5pm, depending where you work, it can take you 1-2.5 hours to get to the stadium in rush hour by adding the extra stadium traffic for a 7pm game.

The stadium was not near full at kickoff. By the 2nd quarter, the stadium was 95% full. Thats a great crowd for a Friday night at Miami. We aren’t talking about Athens or Tuscaloosa here.

The fans do the best they can. The fan base/crowds have increased since Mario took over.

Calling out the fans is just weird to me. Fans are doing their best. I left work early to get my kid at the bus stop and we left for the game around 3:45 from Kendall and it still took me 1:15 hour to get to the stadium.

We have a right to be disappointed by the performance of the coaches and the team coming off a bye week.

Mario and the AD should petition for no more Friday games. They are awful. I don’t see the Big or SEC playing on Thursday or Friday nights.

No, actually call out Mario, Mirabal, etc. like you do the players consistently and in depth, but you won't.

You stating "Mario's Oregon teams routinely dropped these games, and this was his fifth loss as a double-digit favorite", doesn't come close to calling him out for what those results truly mean.

No mention that the 5 (6), is the worse in the country during his time here. No mention that it is completely unacceptable period, let alone for someone allocated the resources he had both at OU and now UM. No mention that he is clearly a coach who does less with more and any team he leads, regardless of talent acquisition, will always be at a disadvantange against any staff who is simply better than him when it comes to Xs and Os.

This is year 4. We are unlikely heading to the ACCCG. And this when both FSU and Clemsom are dumspter fires. UNC, VILLE, SMU have already been there since Mario has arrived. It's likely GT and UVA go this year, yet we don't, again. That is pitiful.

The ROI to this point has been poor. He was not provided the resources he was, to likely not even make the ACCG after 4 years, forget mentioning even winning it.
If we make the playoff but not the ACC chip, would you consider this season a failure ?

I know his name is poison on this board, and some of it for good reason, but Bud Elliott does make some good points at times. One reason for some pessimism on Miami in general is exactly what D mentioned. These middle of the road ACC home games, we get zero juice from the building. No, it’s not an excuse why we lost. And it’s literally never going to get any better, we just have to deal with it. But he (and he’s not the only one by any means) has pointed out that the home crowd atmosphere critique is two-fold. People say we have no home field advantage. That’s patently false. For the big games, it’s absolutely an advantage. ND and UiF were absolutely advantageous situations.

But for these ACC games, the building is largely dead, most notably at the start. Many, many other teams in the P4 (just about all of them, to be fair) get energy from the home crowds every single time out. To be blunt, we don’t. Elliott has pointed that out as a reason that we’ve traditionally struggled in these spots. We can all roll our eyes, and part of me does. At the end of the day, it’s your job to coach and play well, whether there’s 8 or 80,000 in the building. You’re literally paid to do it these days. But to completely ignore it as a factor is disingenuous at this point. It’s beyond a trend.

I’m sure this post will get negged, and that’s fine. It’s NOT the reason we lost. And again, this is probably pointless, because we’re never going to just make the place Nebraska or Death Valley for “******” ACC teams. There’s no solution, frankly. But I do think it contributes to the performance in some way. I wish there was some way to change it, but it’s never going to happen. We just have to find ways to win in the 1-2 times a year when we do come out flat (EVERY team does it), because we’re not going to get carried by the building in these underwhelming on-paper matchups.
Our fans refuse to see all angles. Im not blaming the fans for the loss. The team came out flat and we got blatantly outcoached.

But I felt the fact that we kept it close and had a chance to win at the end and feel like we the fans who were there could have lifted the team. Thats all i ws saying. The mood felt wrong from the beginning. I got there at 5 pm. And i know its friday and rush hour traffic but after we got the fumble recovery and scored to make it 3 points deficit. Our fans were still on their a$$. It matters, cuz at that point UL is rattled. And am just using that one scenario. People who dont go to the game dont understand, so they neg and lash out as if we are saying its not the coaches fault

Yeah, and then add in the condensed sets so it can be a real mosh pit.
