Richard Gordon. Shannon’s staff tried to put him as KR. It lasted a handful of returns after hearing all camp about how good he was at it.

That attempt at being clever was the butt of jokes for years (and still is apparently, lol).

@DMoney

If what Mario said isn't hyperbole about Lofton being the best Linebacker on the team...has this been something that has been discussed or is it just coach speak on Lofton as a football player? You have mentioned it a couple of times, last spring, some posts, now here again.

Is he really that much of + on offense? What does he different than what Marty can already give us split in the backfield with Fletcher or another WR out wide? He's just a fullback playing TE. His blocking leaves a lot to be desired and I can't imagine Luka doesn't take the majority of snaps at TE as he's more of a natural fit for what Mario wants to do.

Obviously you have seen it more during spring and fall camp in person, so I ask how do we really intend to use him?
Lofton can be a really good H-Back. He's not a Y though.

Our 12P TE's should be Gilbert and if he's ready, sure as **** looks ready on film, Mueller. Dude looks like he could be the next Gronkowski. He also appears to have the athleticism to motion out to the perimeter and be a legitimate threat lining up at WR meaning 12P and 11P don't require a substitution and 11P and 10P don't either. Athletes like Mueller create matchup nightmares for defenses.

Ruskavich is a quality blocker. In short yardage we could go 23P with Gilbert, Mueller, Ruskavich at TE and Lofton as the FB/H-Back. The PA possibilities with Mueller running a vertical and Lofton running an arrow or option route of some kind would make things very hard on the defense cause they'll have to sell out to stop the run. This line may take a step back in pass blocking but as run blockers I expect them to be as good or better. If McCoy or Meriweather can play LT imagine Okunlola and Cantwell at RG and RT. They'll be moving people.

The one problem: It's really gonna be tough to keep everyone happy though.

WR's: Toney, Barkate, Joshua Moore (would be a shame to lose him cause he doesn't get enough targets), Vaughn, Jacobs, Upshaw, plus the three incoming recruits in Wingo, Parris, and Spafford.

Toney of course will start. I'm sure Barkate will as well. Moore probably thinks he deserves to be the primary X receiver. Vaughn and Jacobs didn't come here to ride the pine. That's five guys who are expecting significant playing time. I'm sure Upshaw isn't looking to wait another season. Hopefully Wingo, Parris, and Spafford can be kept happy returning KO's, playing some ST's, and getting some targets in blow outs cause it's hard to see any of them cracking that top 5 of Toney, Barkate, Moore, Vaughn, and Jacobs.

We also have a RB room that goes at least three and likely 4 deep as I expect Lyle or Mallory to step up this coming season.
