Even in college teams attacked hin because he couldn't cover and sure he was good against the run but was an ok enough ss but not even close to Quan

He was pretty **** good in college. And they played him in the box more often than not.

This 2019 class needs a boost. I wish one of these cats that knows he is going to be part of this program. Would just go ahead and pull the trigger and get the rest on board.

Why do people keep saying this?

They are assuming and being pessimists bc they don't want to have their little hearts broken if the kid doesn't come in the end. I on the other hand love the approach the coaches are taking. They are preaching honesty, expectations, and family. It's a win-win recipe for success.

a trade off of Richards for Stevenson and im cool. I now want Nunn as well though. That would be a nice group...with Battle being the cherry on top. I always considered Richards an offense recruit so never factored him in.

I'm greedy though and want both Stevenson and Richards. A class of Battle, Stevenson and Richards would be crazy with what we already have on board.

The Coach Banda haters gone be maaaadd lol

Fact for young Richards- Mark Richt, throughout his career, has put lots of players in the NFL. My guess is in top 5 in college football in that respect. Miami is one of the top 5 programs for putting players in the league. Richt will find the best position that suits your skill set and body type, and that means you will get drafted higher and make a lot more money. The NFL will do the same analysis that Richt will, and even if you go to a school that let's you play RB, you will get drafted as a CB if that's where NFL teams see your future. The only difference is that because you played out of position, you are going to cost yourself draft position and a lot of money. Since the average NFL career is less than 3 years, you will have to beat the odds and make it to your second contract to get paid.

On the other hand, you can trust that Richt is looking out for your best interests (like he does for your brother), will put you in the position where you are most likely to excel, which will lead to you getting drafted higher (since NFL teams can see your performance at the position you are likely to play in the league), and getting paid big time with that first contract. Play your cards cards right and you can be set for life at 21. Then you can play a few years and quit, and leave with your brains unscrambled if you want to. Life options. Think about where you want to be 5 years from now, not what position you want to play today. Do that and you'll know that Miami is the place for you.

Honestly for his future he should ask to play CB or WR. Safeties were just treated like Garbage in Free Agency this year.

Take it easy, cupcake. He loves being a RB. It came from the horses mouth and it’s been reported countless times.
Do you think he would like being a RB but never playing because we have RB’s that are better than him?

Hate that we’re trying to convince him to play defense. His heart seems to be on offense.

Hope it doesn’t cost us.

Agree. I don’t think that’s a decision we need to be making even before signing him. Kid plays both ways, you’ve already told him you’re going to use him on offense. So leave it there. What’s the big deal about the staff “finally“ deciding to put him on D? Personally I don’t think our staff is stupid. I’d question Stef making sure he crossed his t’s and dotted his i’s.

Kids need to learn. Peppers lost a lot of money because he wanted the ball in his hands. Should have been a top 10 pick with his talent level but didn't concentrate on his playing defense and caused him to drop in the draft.

It feels like MAR mentioning Nunn may be a little foreshadowing of things to come. As far as all the worry about us telling him we plan to use him primarily on defense, I understand but that worry is unfounded. We are being straight up with him and not telling him what he wants to hear. Also we are selling him on what the coaches think is his best position moving forward. Both at the college level and professionally.

If any of you have listened to Mark Antony in interviews then you know what a bright young man he is. You would also know that he is a very high character type of individual and my point is that in the end, he will acknowledge and appreciate that honesty. I also believe that he is already beginning to realize that CB/S is where his ultimate money position will be.
He is not RB tall and I just don't see it. I think defensively would be money for him.

I'm picking MAR to be a Cane!! It would be nice to see him commit and start RECRUITING other top SoFla RECRUITS to join him at The U..

This kid is a ATH, and MIAMI basically telling him that he would be better suited for DEFENSE but he will also get his opportunity to play on O and make plays.. He will be a Cane

Like I said a while ago, he will play the position that a coach sells him on the best. He's confused, heart says offense as that's what he is, an extremely explosive offensive weapon. He trusts our coaches and has been around far more than is reported. We want him on defense and that is making this decision tougher and may bite us in the *** in the end.

Difference maker on offense. Don’t understand why we pigeon hole this kid into DB...

Just get him here and figure it out later

No he was not. He was even more overrated than Derwin James who imo was still overrated af outside his freshman year
For once I’ll agree with you.

Peppers was way over hyped. Had 1 pick his entire career. How he was even a heisman finalist was ridiculous
