Recruiting Update 12/12

It's been a busy day already in terms of recruiting news, so I figured I would start this thread and continue to add more to it as the day progresses.

**Miami received a bit of good news today when DT Lavon Hooks announced that he would be visiting Miami this weekend. Previously, some had suspected that Hooks would be taking his final official to Auburn, but instead he will take an unofficial there on Thursday before going to Miami for an official on Friday through the weekend. Hooks told me he made this decision after meeting with Miami coaches Al Golden and Jethro Franklin last night.

**Golden was at Pompano Ely today to visit CB Rashard Robinson (LSU commit). I was told over the weekend that Robinson's unofficial to Miami was successful and the coaches felt good about flipping him. An LSU source told me today that Robinson's Miami interest is very legitimate. It definitely seems like the coaches are turning up the pressure on him as of late. Remember, Robinson still has the option to take an official visit to Miami since last weekend was an unofficial.

**Just when it seems like Miami has made the move to the top of WR Stacy Coley's list, FSU has made a counter-move. Here is my post from a little while ago:

FSU is expected to receive a commitment from Boyd Anderson ATH Eddie Jackson tonight.

They offered Jackson today and in all likelihood he will commit tonight. He is a stud, but has had some grades questions throughout high school. Miami has taken a look at him as well.

Where this gets interesting is that Jackson happens to be very close with Stacy Coley. Somebody told me a couple months ago that "Coley is going wherever Jackson goes." That was tough to imagine back then because the big offers hadn't really been coming in until recently for Jackson (Tennessee, LSU, FSU have all offered in the last 3 weeks). I honestly don't think this offer had Coley directly in mind because like I said, I think Jackson is definitely worth of an offer, but this certainly gives FSU something else to sell with Coley.

We will see how it ultimately affects him.

**A 2015 kid to keep an eye on is OL Billy Atterbury (6'5", 250) of Clearwater Central Catholic. He will be a big-tme prospect within the next year and there is interest on both sides.

**FSU commit John Franklin told me he is expecting a visit from 'Noles OC James Coley tomorrow at school. This obviously means that Coley will be meeting with Franklin's teammate, Alex Collins.

**Hooks says he's "not sure" if he will bring any family members with him for the visit. Not sure if this is good or bad news for Miami, just a tidbit I though I should pass along. He had previously said a couple weeks ago that he would bring his family with him.

With half their staff gone, it might be the only way they can get kids out of south Florida now

Good point but they already messed up with the Alexander brother and had to cover their tracks. Then Collins' boy. Not a good way to do business IMO.

What do you guys think the odds are of Franklin actually ever sets foot on FSU campus are? If he even actually gets papers on signing day I bet they find "problems" with his transcripts or some other BS...I'd say 100% chance he never does if Collins goes elsewhere, 80% chance he never does even if Collins signs with FSU.

For all you guys, parents, and kids that keep harping how FSU is going to fill their roster with a bunch of JAG "friends," don't think for a second ol' Jimbo won't run off the kids he didn't want in the first place and fill their positions with new kids.

FSU is shady, that's how FSU operates.

If I had a dollar for every SFL kid who lamented his "mistake" of signing with FSU after it was too late, I'd be able to buy a lot of free beer.

Thought I read somewhere that Robinson was a huge grades concern and may have to go prep. The thought was we were putting in serious interest for this recruiting cycle so as to flip him for 2014, after prep.

Anybody know anything about that, or his grades? I could be way off, but I know that was the word at the beginning of the reenergized Robinson recruitment.

Yes but it still sets you back when you start taking guys that don't belong on your roster

Carter is a S so no to him. Burns has no worries about us just signing 20 CBs last year so I don't see why one more would bother him.

Besides there's lots of talk about Robinson might have to wait a little bit to get to college. Not sure though.

Golden is the right man ,for this program. He is in the process of building quality depth. Great competition for jobs is a recipe for success. A mixture of Butch Davis and JJ,put the women and children to bed there is a category 5 coming!!!

Fsu's way of recruiting: who is Gooden's staff after, what friends does said recruit have, what lies can we tell him. Place is a joke. How can recruits not see that. Happens every year. Golden tells it to you straight, treats you like a man and gives you the best shot at being in the league after molding roping you grow at one I the best schools in the country. Fsu? Well,...they have a nice circus?

Well Cooper was a Cane until his mom told him to bolt! We need to re-establish that pipeline to the U! I just love how we don't negative recruit! Unlike that heart attack victim up north!

Lol at FSU, them mofos is scared as *** and trying to counter every elite kid we will get lol at them. They are starting to recruit scared, I mean they get studs but they do not want one kid here because they will develope haha.

Sooner or later it will bite fsu in the *** and AG n his staff will use that against them in 2 to 3 years.

I'm not convinced they can coach up the talent they have, and it is a bit telling that almost the entire staff is abandoning ship.
