Bottom line is we will have a nice rotation at safety with Bush, Jenkins, Carter and Burns. Burns could end up being a nickel corner/safety IMO.

How does Carter compare to Jenkins (or really, based on the reports out of the UA game, how does Jenkins compare to Carter)? Similar measurables as far as height and weight, both were state champion hurdlers.

Just excited to see big fast guys across the board in the secondary again.

Carter is an ELITE athlete. Jenkins is not IMO. I don't think they compare very well
While I think Carter is the better athlete, I don't think you're giving Jenkins the credit he deserves. I don't believe they're as far apart athletically as you think. I remember last year when he was coming out people were raving about his athleticism.

Carter is already 215lbs and hasnt sniffed a college weight training program...this dude might grow into a perfect OLB

Also should add that Carter is one of the few real safety prospects to come through here lately.

I'm excited to see what Williams can do with him since its most likely because of Williams that we started two freshmen that were not safeties before they got to campus, and they both played well (in Bush's case very well)

I think it'll make most sense to throw Burns at Corner and see if he hits, because our starting Safeties next year are Bush and Jenkins. If Carter comes to work, you throw in the guys who grabbed experience this year, and you have a completely different situation than what we saw. I won't cringe every time the QB stops at 3 steps and throws a slant or seam route.

I agree with you but also think Burns is good enough to challenge Jenkins. Just think of the progress Bush and Jenkins made at safety and then figure a guy like Burns who has Bush type qualities and I can't put it past him.

I know you and I expected a bit more out of Crawford so he is one I have my eye on as far as covering the slot next year. Gunter played some good football but with McGee gone, Burns could challenge Howard and co. as well. Exciting prospects for sure.

I like Jenkins a decent amount, maybe that's why. Remember, he was only a RS Frosh himself.

Rashawn Jenkins was a true freshman this year. The kid is an "ELITE" football talent and was the entire team at his HS. Carter better come ready to work because Jenkins isn't just going to give his spot away. Like people have been saying, Bush, Jenkins, Carter, and Burns could be the most dynamic group of safeties this program has had in a long time. One more recruiting class and this roster will be oozing talent. Golden is building a monster in Gables...

Jenkins is 6'2 200 pds and runs like the wind looks to be a 4.5 guy....Jenkins could likely line up n play wideout for us an be prductive. Kid isnt nothing to sneeze at athletically.

At the end of the year.. as he got comfortable he was flashing..and running stride for stride with guys in covg.

Yep. My mistake. True freshman. And, he looked very comfortable at the end of the year.

There were a few plays where Jenkins covered ground as fast as any Cane Safety I've ever seen. Jenkins is going to be a beast next season.

I'm not trying to put down Jenkins. Carter has NFL 1st rounder written all over him, whereas Jenkins does not IMO

Jenkins is every bit the athlete Carter is. Carter may be more college ready out of HS than Jenkins but Jenkins is a beast in his own right. Carter had the advantage of playing Dade county talent while Jenkins was playing lesser competition while at Farragut. Having both of these kids in the secondary is a great problem to have and both of them are going to push each other to be ballers.

lol. Carter is a DB all the way. here we go again

How many teams line-up 7on7 and play smashmouth? The way football, college and pro, is going with spread and pass-happy it isn't insane for specimen weighing 230lb play a rover position, ala Godfrey Miles back in the day.

Carter is and will always be a DB while at Miami. It's insane for our fans to think otherwise.

I dont see the change of direction, burst, smoothness in Jenkins that jumps off the screen with Carter. Carter has a higher ceiling IMO. but whatever. its a good problem to have

Haha ask that RB he drilled for USF. The one that knee him in the side of the helmet. The closing speed on that was ridiculous

Yup. I love Jenkins. I remember me and CanesAreAble sticking to our guns about the kid because I loved his athelticism on offense. I wasn't sure how he would pick up defense though but obviously it was quick. I am just a huge huge fan of Artie Burns and I think he can challenge Jenkins at safety, and Howard/Crawford/Gunter at CB right away. Overtake? Most likely no, but he will get in the mix somewhere right away.
